Pregnancy is a beautiful time in a woman's life, where as women, we face daily changes and challenges. From the first glimpses of a tiny baby bump to swollen ankles and bulging bellies, pregnancy is a journey that is different for each one of of us. From the moment I announced I was pregnant, all I heard from other women was that I'd better take advantage of sleeping on my back while I still could, because after the first trimester, it would be best for me and the baby (Balian) if I slept on my side. I've always been a side sleeper, so I pretty much ignored their advice, and just slept on my side as usual. Well, wouldn't you know it that when the first trimester passed and my pregnancy progressed, all I wanted to do was sleep on my back. Side sleeping became extremely uncomfortable, especially in the seventh month when I constantly had legs and arms jabbing my ribs! My discomfort kept me awake many nights, and unfortunately, kept my poor husband awake many nights, as well. I haven't even mentioned that I dealt with an aching back for months, due to a mean sciatic nerve, too! All these beautiful, agonizing aches and pains for close to six months and I suffered through them right up until labor kicked in.

First, I tried the pillow propped up against the wall, while sitting up in bed. Leaning up against the TM Cozy Comfort Pregnancy Pillow is like leaning back onto a gigantic spool of cotton candy. The pillow completely hugs the body and offers lush comfort at every angle. I absolutely wish I'd had this pillow while I was recovering from my c-section. Knowing that I'll have to have a scheduled c-section with our next child, I'll have the pillow set up and waiting for me when I come home from the hospital! Next, I wanted to see how the pillow would work during feeding time. I nursed Balian until he was ten months old, and then he gave it up on his own... that was a sad day for me. We often still have late night bottles, where Balian likes to lounge on his Boppy pillow, in my lap until he falls asleep. Leaning up against a headboard or in my case, the wall when nursing or bottle feeding in bed is a nightmare. At first, you think it won't be so bad and you can deal with it, but when you're a new mom, no one tells you that you'll spend every waking moment nursing or feeding! Back ache doesn't even begin to describe the pains you begin to feel, as you melt into the wall. I spent many nights falling asleep with Balian in my lap, me sitting propped up against the wall in bed. Talk about uncomfortable! If I'd had the Cozy Comfort Pregnancy Pillow, I would have had plenty of support for my back, neck, head and shoulders while nursing. If I'd fallen asleep, I wouldn't have been slumped over- I would have been lovingly enveloped by delightful softness. If you're going to feed in bed, be comfortable while doing it. Of course, having the Cozy Comfort Pregnancy Pillow to use while you're actually pregnant is a big plus! I wish I could have spent those uncomfortable months lounging along this pillow! Just to get the experience, I channeled my former pregnant self and laid down on my side with the pillow. I don't usually like to hold onto anything while sleeping, because I become too warm, but the pillow has a cool fabric, so it kept my body temperature regulated. ReplyDeleteI have been looking ALL over the internet trying to find out the size of this thing. The site I had found it on had weird measurements so I decided to hunt elsewhere. I don;t know how tall you are, but seeing the pictures of you with it helped me decide that this is what I need. I'm not pregnant, but for years I have slept in a "fort" of pillows surrounding me because of medical problems (I've even bought a raised air bed to help with the pain bc I am in bed just about 24/7). Also having a surgery coming up on my abdomen it looks like this would help me out. I really appreciate your review here, I have been searching for so long now. I can't wait to order mine now. ReplyDeleteI just thought of something that I figured you would be able to answer for me. I was getting ready to order the pillow but realized I might have an issue with it and may need to order they other one they offer. I know this is made to help pregnant women and it would make room for the growing belly but does the part of the pillow you lay in open up easily to make room for a larger person? It looks like the arms of it would move outward easily but thought I would ask your thoughts on it.

ReplyDeleteI got my pillow yesterday!!! I curled up in it right away and it was amazing, with the pain I live with daily this pillow helped hold my heating pad right where I needed it and just cradled my entire body, it was like laying in a huge marshmallow all day! Sleeping will take a little adjusting, but I slept better than I have in a LONG time. I'm used to waking up constantly and moving from the pain inside me but the rest of my night was great. I didn't wake up in odd positions that hurt me more, and my back was not in pain like it has been. I'm so thankful for your review here and you answering me on it, it really helped me decide on getting this pillow. Thank you very much, you helped me get to where I can have a better life while stuck in bed. I appreciate it very much, this is a pillow I wish I had the past 4 years I've gone through this pain, its amazing!

I work with BabyAge.com and although I am not a mother myself, I know people who have used the pillow and it makes me really happy to know that they are finding it easier to sleep! ReplyDeleteI think that would be a wonderful idea. Just throw some tape over the name lol. I'm not a mother and the reason I wanted one was bc of the pain I suffer from, I have to spend 24/7 in bed and it causes all sorts of pain every where and my back was the worst! I honestly think it would help your dad out in a lot of ways. I just bought one simply because of this blog and have spent the past few days in pure bliss! I've spent 5 yrs uncomfy and in pain in bed and I wish I would have known about this pillow sooner. It made my quality of life better, I hope that if you do get one for your dad it will help him as much as it has helped me out.
