It's summertime, and for most families, with summertime comes family trips- at least, this holds true for my family. Since marrying my husband, I have grown to love last minute roadtrips- even just day trips. Now that my husband and I are parents, planning a trip takes a lot more time than it used to, and we always have our 20-month-old son to take into consideration.

While my husband was in graduate school, we lived in Maryland, not too far from the Pennsylvania border. We would often talk about how fun it would be to just hop in the car and drive the couple of hours it would take to trek into Pennsylvania and just explore and spend the night... if we only knew where to go.

Now, planning a roadtrip to or within Pennsylvania is easier than ever, thanks to the Fantastic Roadtrip-a-Matic on visitpa.com! I wish that I'd had this handy tool at my disposal four years ago, because it would have made exploring PA a cinch!

The Roadtrip-a-Matic is something everyone shoukd take the time to check out. It takes all of the guess work out of planning a trip to PA. It basically plans your trip for you, and all you have to do is pack your bags!  With sixteen different roadtrips to choose from, there's something suited for every pallate. The Taste Buds on Tour caught my immediate attention as I browsed the choices listed. My husband and I love to eat great food, so I followed the 'Eat Like a Champ in Pittsburg' track, and was really impressed by what I found. Not only is there a detailed and descriptive list of which restaurants to eat at for each meal, there are also directions on where to stay for the night while on this two-day adventure! I may seriously consider this trip the next time we head up north from NC.

There's my sweet little boy to consider, though, and for those with children, the Fantastic Roadtrip-a-Matic does not disappoint! There's a Kidsylvania category, with three different pa-roadtrips options that will be enjoyable for the entire family! I went straight for the The Alleghenies trip, just to see what it was all about. It's a three day, adventure-packed discovery tour that looks to be both fun and educational. As I browsed the list of stops on the trip, I noticed Johnstown Incline, which was built after the Johnstown Flood. I remember going to the Johnstown museum and cemetary as a young girl and how it sparked my interest in natural disasters. This trip track looks pretty cool- full of historical stops, activity stops, great places to eat, and sleep, plus, it includes all of the maps needed for each day's journey. This is definitely a trip for the whole family, but I'd probably save this until my child was a little older. There are two other great trip options for the kiddos, though!

Whew- what a great list of different trip options!

I love the fact that if we want to take a last minute trip as a family, all my hubby and I need to do is hop onto the visitPA.com website, pick our trip, print out our info, pack our bags, hop into the car and head off into the sunset for a grand, stress-free, pre-planned adventure! I can't wait to plan our first PA trip, and I also can't wait to show this to my grandmother, who lives just a few minutes from the PA border! I'm sure she'd love the Artisan Ways trip category!
