Potty Time DVD + Music CD (Review & Giveaway)

Not long ago, little B-Man realized how wonderful it is to run free, without any clothing or diaper on. I love to let him 'air out' after his bath, especially to help prevent diaper rash, but lately, it's become a headache, because my sweet little babe has started to recognize when he needs to go pee pee. My husband and I have been putting him on the big potty, encouraging him to go tinkle several times a day. It seems like it must be a big thrill for Balian- getting to do something just like mommy, and daddy!

Potty training presents all kinds of challenges for parents. Thankfully, as a work at home mom, I can work with Balian pretty much round the clock on using the potty. I've never potty trained a child before, though, so I have been very open to any aids or learning tools for my own reference, and aids the big transition for Balian.

Signing Time bring us Potty Time!

Lucky for me, and for all parents who are going through Potty Training, there is a great DVD available that helps to make learning to use the potty lots of fun! From the very popular Signing Time series, comes Potty Time, offering s DVD + Music CD. Potty time combines simple beginner sign language with animation, real-life kids and adults, and fun music!

The Potty Time DVD + Music CD Set

I was really eager to pop the Potty Time DVD into the Blueray player to see what it was all about. I waited until after Balian had his afternoon nap, so that he was fully alert and ready to have some fun. I was instantly sucked into the DVD by the bright colors, fun animated characters, the singing and the sign language. Balian loved Hopkins, the animated froggy, and quickly recognized the kids in the DVD, who were going potty, flushing the potty and washing their hands. We probably made three trips to the potty during the first viewing of the Potty Time DVD. Balian danced a lot, squealed and giggled, and even tried to mimic some of the sign language being taught. Even I was trying to keep up with the sign language! Emmy nominated host Rachel Coleman, of Potty Time, is really animated and is a delight for parents and kids to watch and sing along with. There are wonderful, heartfelt moments between parents and children that will pull at your heartstrings when you see them. Balian has been learning new words from Potty Time, as well. The last time we watched the DVD, he learned the word, 'amazing,' and learned the sign for it, too!

 Potty Time on our TV...

We have been watching the Potty Time DVD quite a lot over the past couple of weeks, and have really been enjoying it! I like it, because it works for all preferred methods of potty training, and is appropriate for ages 1-5. We love the Potty Time songs, too! The DVD came with a separate CD of all of the Potty Time songs, so we can listen to them whenever we want to! My favorite song is the 'My Body is Amazing' song... it gets stuck in my head a lot!

Potty Time features nine original songs, including:
  • Potty Time Theme
  • Look at You Grow
  • My Body is Amazing
  • Potty Dance
  • Stop What You're Doing (and Go)
  • Uh-oh Accident
  • Let's Celebrate
  • Shining Star

Since starting the Potty Time DVD with Balian, I have seen an increased interest in using the potty. I know that potty training will take time, but I am so happy to take him to the potty when he tells me he needs to go! Now, I just need some pull-ups, because diapers are a pain! Potty Time helps kids to understand the growing process, and why they need to go potty. With fun songs and signs, kids learn the potty steps: potty, wipe, flush, and wash with soap! They also learn that they might have an accident every now and then, but to keep trying, and eventually they will have SUCCESS! Potty Time celebrates successes of every kind, and celebrates life!

Balian- watching Potty Time for the first time!

Our whole family loves Potty Time, and I love that it helps me to be more mindful about asking him if he needs to go potty. I'm sure Potty Time will be well-watched for years to come!

  1. Make it fun. My daughter placed a sheet of paper on the door with stickers. Every time they went, they received a sticker to pput on their poster and also a couple of m&m's

  3. I found out that using Cheerios as "tinkle tagets" might not be a good idea for some kids. I have just started potty training with my youngest and he now refuses to eat his once favorite cereal.

With my others, it was don't force them. Take your time, when thy are ready- they will let you know.
