-Part of our Holiday Gift Guide 2012-
With a little over a month to go before Christmas, I have been hunting ads, websites, and stores for the perfect gifts for my kids. I like to find unique, educational, and fun games, toys, and activities for them, because who wants the same thing as everyone else. I love specialty toy stores and we are lucky to have one in town, I have already hit it up a few times to find some fun treasures I can't find other places. Another great place to look is a toy company that has been around for over 30 years and provides excellent, quality, unique products from babies to kids to families-Discovery Toys.
Meg's Discovery Toys
Meg chose to join Discovery Toys as an Educational Consultant because they offer the most outstanding developmental products for families, items that are high quality and a great value. For Meg, Discovery Toys gives her a great business opportunity that allows her to build her own schedule, earn an income, and be with her family. I have worked with Meg before, she is super friendly and loves sharing her love of Discovery Toys with others. We are lucky to work with her!
Our package from Meg's Discovery Toys is here!
What is it?
It's a Discovery Toys Place & Trace!
The Discovery Toys Place & Trace is a set of puzzles but also a versatile learning tool. It contains 3 individual themed trays (animals, dinosaurs, and vehicles) and each tray has 4 chunky pieces to match the theme.
Beckett enjoyed the dino tray
Scarlett enjoyed the animal tray
Each set of pieces helps to teach shape recognition, categorization, and fine motor dexterity.
Here are the benefits of the Place & Trace:
Identify the colors and shapes, and expand vocabulary.
Sort the shapes by color or according to early childhood themes.
Match the shapes to the proper cutout spots on the trays. Each shape only fits in one specific location, minimizing frustration.
Supports progressive skill development.
- Toddlers can use for early puzzle play.
- Preschoolers can use the shapes for open-ended play, for color recognition, dough creations and early patterning.
- Older children can use as stencils and aids for story-telling.
Develop fine motor dexterity.
Use shapes separately for games such as lotto, or for art projects involving tracing and stamping in dough.
Places shapes in a bag and ask children to identify by touch alone.
Scarlett enjoyed using the shapes to stamp in playdough
The Place & Trace is good for kids from 2 years and up, because of the variety of uses. Scarlett loves placing the pieces like puzzles and stamping playdough. Beckett prefers using them to create a story and act them out like figurines. I appreciate the versatility of the Place & Trace, it is not a baby toy but a family toy. The colors are bright, the pieces are sturdy, and the whole thing is a great product. It has also won awards from the National Parenting Publications and Dr. Toy's Best Classic Products. The Place & Trace retails for $17.50.
