One of my favorite scents of all time is one that just can't be bottled or molded into a wax block. I'm talkin' about fresh baked bread- right out of the oven... a sweet, yeasty aroma that floods the senses and just sort of makes you feel like you're right at home. I know I've mentioned that I stink at baking. My mother-in-law suggested that perhaps my PH Balance is to blame. So, I tend to leave the bread-baking to my hubby (he's pretty good at it). Lately, however, he's been so busy with working and volunteering that he's hardly been home for an evening or weekend, which leaves us without freshly baked anything!

Independent Consultant with Tastefully Simple
I am delighted to introduce you all to Suzanne Prickett, and Independent Consultant with Tastefully Simple. Tastefully Simple has been around since 1995, and offers delicious gourmet food mixes and more! I was excited to have Suzanne join our group of MBP Spotlight Sponsors, especially since I could use all the help I can get when it comes to baking.
Suzanne sent me one of Tastefully Simple's most popular mixes to try out with my family during the month of February... the Tastefully Simple Bountiful Beer Bread Mix. When my husband came home from work and saw the bag containing the mix on our kitchen counter, he said, 'Oooo!!' He was already a fan of this bread mix. He had the opportunity to sample it over the summer, while we were at the beach, and Steph made some of this yummy beer bread for our family to enjoy.
My hubby couldn't wait to make the beer bread, so we planned to have homemade baked potato soup for dinner one evening, and also planned to serve the Bountiful Beer Bread with it. I let my husband make dinner that night- so the beer bread baking was all him.
Look at that thick beer bread mixture!
To make the beer bread, he simply dumped the beer bread mix into a mixing bowl, added a little melted butter, and a bottle of beer. That was it! I love a bread mix that takes zero measuring any of the ingredients out (I always screw that stuff up!). Next, he poured it into a loaf pan, and placed it into a pre-heated oven.
Mmm... golden brown topped beer bread!
In about an hour, we had a hot, delicious-smelling loaf of freshly baked beer bread sitting on our counter. We let the bread cool for about thirty minutes, and then sliced into it! The sweet aroma of the beer in the bread was just seeping out as we cut into the loaf. My mouth was definitely watering, and I wanted to taste that bread more than I wanted my husband's famous soup!
The beer bread loaf sliced like soft butter. The outside (top, mostly) had a nice crunchy crust, and the inside of the beer bread was soft, warm and moist- not quite the same consistency of a quick bread, but close.
Potato Soup and Beer Bread- an excellent combination!
I felt like I was eating a gourmet restaurant, instead of sitting at the little table in our kitchen. I loved the taste and the heartiness of the bread, which tasted delicious alone, and super awesome when I dipped it into my soup! My husband gobbled up most of the loaf of bountiful beer bread before I even got another slice of it. Even Balian, my two-year-old loved the bread (and he's one picky eater!)
One of the coolest things about this Bountiful Beer Bread mix from Tastefully Simple, (besides the low-key ingredients and how little work there is involved to make it), is that it's a truly versatile mix. Suzanne sent me a sheet of paper that listed all of the different ways I could use the beer bread mix to make different types of bread- like Italian bread, and even PB & J bread! So, of course I'm going to have to order some more of this beer bread mix from Suzanne- and lucky for me, Tastefully Simple sells this mix individually, or in a 3-Pack for just $15.99! Single mixes are $5.99... you do the math!
I'm ready for spring to be here, but it's still pretty chilly here in the Carolinas, so I plan to make the most of what's left of winter. I love hearty soups and breads during the cooler months, and Tastefully Simple has an array of delicious mixes to choose from. Suzanne sent us a catalog, and my husband has already gone through and circled what he'd like to try. Here are his picks...
Bountiful Beer Cheese Soup Mix
Perfect Parmesan Biscuit Mix
Cinnamon Roll Cheese Ball Mix
Roasted Garlic Infused Oil
I can't thank Suzanne enough for re-introducing Tastefully Simple to our family, and to our readers! I've had a lot of fun looking through the catalog, and my wheels have been turning... we'll be headed to the beach for a family vacation in late May, and I plan to order up a few mixes to take with us, as we do our own cooking. Last year, we took a Tastefully Simple Margarita Party Bucket and some Guacamole- those were a big hit!
Tastefully Simple mixes and goodies are great to have around the house for a lot of different reasons: last minute company, a quick treat for the family, gifting, and more! Take a look at all of the delicious offerings there are from Tastefully Simple, and let Suzanne be your guide!
