Part of MBP's Summer Splash
When I think about summer style, I think light and breezy. To me, nothing feels more luxurious than organic cotton. If you haven't added any organic cotton pieces to your summer wardrobe, you're seriously missing out! Of course, you can't find quality, 100% organic cotton clothing just anywhere. So, I started looking for the very best organic clothing boutiques I could find, and I am pleased as punch to have stumbled across a beautiful company committed to an environmentally conscious shopping experience for their customers.
FaeriesDance.com provides customers with a huge selection of organic apparel, at low prices. Faeries Dance is environmentally friendly to the core. From sustainable fashion to printing invoiced on recycled paper, Faeries Dance puts the environment first. Faeries Dance gets its name from the traditional Celtic spelling of what we call 'fairies,' and the Celtic tales of faeries. Faeries are joy-filled, carefree, loving, and live to honor the earth. What an appropriate choice of name by owner and founder Adrienne. Adrienne exudes a passion for our planet that most of us only hope to one day posses and pass on to future generations. She's lived an inspirational life, and her own love for the earth and carefree nature, shines through her shop in every detail from the logo, designed by her cousin, Michael, to the apparel that appears in the Faeries Dance shop.
I was very excited to be given the opportunity to select a piece of clothing from Faeries Dance. I spent a lot of time looking around, because there was a lot to choose from, and because I only just started adding organic apparel to my wardrobe 2-3 years ago, and I wanted to really take a look at what I would possibly be receiving. After careful consideration, I selected the Tree Applique Dress.
The bottom half of the Tree Applique Dress...
I'll show you the whole dress in a minute- but this is one of the main reasons I selected this piece. I love the tree applique! As soon as I saw this dress, my eyes were immediately drawn the the bottom half. The dress sort of serves as a canvas for this hauntingly beautiful scene. If you look at it, it could really be anything. My mother-in-law said it reminded her of All Hallows Eve. I saw it as a lone tree in the desert, under a glistening white moon. The design was unlike anything I had ever seen on a dress before- completely unique and absolutely striking.
Details of the applique...
There's nothing flashy about the design. It's simply cut, and stitched onto the dress in coordinating threads to match the fabrics. I love the bright contrast of the 'darker colors' and then the splash of white against the black fabric of the dress.
Me, modeling the lovely Tree Applique Dress...
I fell in love with the whole of the dress, right after I put it on. I love everything about it, from the neckline to the silhouette to the fit and the feel of the fabric. The organic cotton is sublimely lightweight, smooth as silk against the skin, and just the right covering for hot summer days. I first wore the dress to church, and I sure received a fair number of intrigued glances and a number of compliments, as well.
This is the perfect dress for my shape...
The neckline is beautiful- a gentle scoop in the front, and the back. The entire dress is 38" in length from the shoulder to the hemline, which is a sexy, yet modest length for women of all ages. You have to love sustainable fashion that suits more than one generation!
Tie belt in the back...
I love the added detail of the tie belt at the waist. It's attached around the front of the dress, and can be ties in the back. I tied it in a bow here, but I've also worn it knotted, with longer tie strands hanging. I received this dress in a size Small, which fits US sizes 2-4. It fits me beautifully, and I don't have to worry about bulging... just a nice, fitted hug of the fabric against my body.
This dress is 100% organic cotton, and can be machine washed on a gentle cycle. It was made in Nepal, using low-impact dyes and Fair Trade Practices.

My husband loves this dress! He loves the way it fits me, and also loves the overall design. He kindly commented on my choice of dress: 'It's so unlike most of the other dresses you own. I love the design, and what I love most is that you're starting to show more and more that you care about the environment from recycling efforts in our own home to buying organic and fair-trade certified products. Nothing is sexier than that...'
He loved the dress so much, that he decided to play photographer for a few minutes...
Just lounging the warm summer evening away on our porch...
...Hmm... a glass of wine & a good book seem appropriate!
I want to wear this dress again and again, because of its unique qualities, and because it's so deliciously comfortable, and light. This is the perfect dress for summertime and I seriously doubt that I'll run into anyone who has one just like it.
