We often look for wonderful educational experiences that we can have as a family, but this is one feature that I am a bit out of the loop on. We had tickets to the Children's Museum of Winston Salem that we needed to use, and we had promised to take Balian. The first time we attempted to visit was back in the winter time, and the weather was too bad for us to travel forty-five minutes on icy roads. So, my hubby and his mom wound up taking Balian to the museum the same day that I went to tea at the O.Henry Hotel in Greensboro. I was sad to miss out on this trip, but I new they'd have a great time, and that I'd get to go there, eventually.
The Children's Museum of Winston-Salem is a wonderful place for the family to spend the day laughing, exploring, creating, building, playing and learning together. It opened its door in 2004, as a 75th anniversary gift to the community. It it run by a welcoming, helpful staff who have a desire to see children experience hands-on activities that will get them moving, shaking and learning!
The museum is filled with awesome, colorful exhibits the entire family will enjoy, like a library, housing books for children of all ages, with cozy storytime areas for families and friends. There's a big, Enchanted Forest for the kids to explore, a mini Food Lion grocery store, a Krispy Kreme Doughnut Factory for the kiddos to play in, and so much more!
Check out some of the things that Balian (2 1/2), enjoyed at the Children's Museum of Winston-Salem...
Discovering tools (just like daddy's!)...
Building at the Lego table...
An architect in the making in the Build It room!
Fishing in the Enchanted Forest...
Walking through the forest...
Counting balls of yarn with grandma, in the kitchen...
Heading to the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Factory (real factory and corporate office based in Winston-Salem!).
Playing and drawing with chalk on this huge chalkboard!
Balian had a great time at the museum. Grandma told me that there is so much to see and do there, that it's worth taking a couple of trips within the same year, if you're local. Balian told me that his favorite part was the Build It Room, because he and daddy got to build huge towers together. I know I would have been into the little play Krispy Kreme Doughnut Factory! Balian also enjoyed shopping and playing cashier in the mini Food Lion grocery store!

ReplyDeleteWow, this looks like a great place for the kids! I'm not aware of anything like this in my city - strange - but I wish I could have taken my daughter here when she was little! She would have loved it.
