Last week, I had a box of Chex cereal that was already opened, and heading toward the stale side of the pantry, if it didn't get eaten. I'd bought it for Balian, who usually likes Chex, but for some reason, he wouldn't touch it. Kids are so weird sometimes. Anyway, I didn't want it to go to waste, so we used it with one of our lessons from last week, while we learned about the Letter 'D', and made 'Dinosaur Track Snacks,' AKA- Muddy Buddies, Puppy Chow, White Trash- or whatever you personally want to call this delicious mix of cereal and chocolate!
Ingredients
9 cups Corn Chex®, Rice Chex®, Wheat Chex® or Chocolate Chex® cereal (or combination)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Directions
Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside. This is a great thing to do with kids... let them help you scoop, measure and pour the cereal into a big bowl.
In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla.

Chocolate, peanut butter, butter and vanilla, all melted and mixed together.
Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
Be careful- the chocolate mixture will still be hot!
Coat the cereal evenly with the chocolate mixture.
Pour into a plastic bag or even a paper bag to shake with powdered sugar to coat.
Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
Balian couldn't wait to try these Muddy Muddy Dino Tracks for the first time!
We made a huge batch- enough to pack into three containers and share with family and friends!

Hi Ondria, I just met your blog today and printed a number of recipes that I thought would be good. I believe you can always learn something new. I'm 67 and a very good cook (others say) and I really liked the sound of some of these meals. I'm interested in the chexs cereal recipes that you refer to. You have a link called Muddy Buddy Recipes but it comes up with something else. Any chance of another site. I see this is dated 2013. Hope you're still doing it somewhere. I'd like to find you online. thanks Lorrain e
