Oh boy did the Wigglesworth family have an exciting Saturday before Easter! We got to visit Madame Tussaud's New York and take photos with some pretty fantastic celebrities wax figures that look like some of our favorite celebrities and Super-Heroes!
Opened in the heart of Times Square in 2000, Madame Tussaud’s New York has sent its many many visitors through various periods of history, allowing them to interact with A-list celebrities, sports legends, musicians, and other historical icons. Citing “good old fashioned curiosity” as one of the reasons for its continued success, Madame Tussaud’s New York is definitely a MUST for anyone planning a trip to the area.
I searched the Madame Tussaud's New York Website prior to our visit,to try and find out what celebrities we could expect to see, and found a great list. I knew almost right away that Drew would be most excited about the Marvel Super Heroes 4D Experience and I was looking forward to the "Opening Night Party" section of the museum. I was also looking forward to seeing celebrities that might be there, but were not listed on the website.
We arrived to Madame Tussaud’s around noon, and boy, was it crowded. Now, I know you are probably saying “DUH”, because in retrospect I am saying it too. When we first picked the day we were going to go, I had no idea it was the Saturday before Easter. I’ve also never been to Times Square so, I knew it would be busy, but I could never have imagined just how busy. Even now, I’m thinking I must have imagined it was more chaotic than it actually was.
One of the first celebrities we saw, well that Drew saw, was Spiderman! She was so excited that I am sure everyone there heard just how much, even though there had to be at least 100 different conversations going on in the lobby!
I got pretty giddy myself, when I saw one of my favorite leading men standing and waiting
at the bottom of the stairs! I’ll give you a hint, this guy definitely makes bald beautiful and although he is a well known action film kind of a guy, he can make you laugh whether he’s hanging with all of the Friends or just "Chandler".
Yep! Me and Bruce Willis :-D
I really do not like having my picture taken, but throw in some of my favorite celebrities, and I am hamming it up like my 2 year old does every time she realizes the camera is on! We got so many pictures with so many of the celebrities, but I did not get pictures with all of them. There were a few celebrities that I did not care to be photographed with and others that I couldn’t get near because they were so popular. Some of the people that came in were dressed to the nines to take pictures with celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, and the President and First Lady.
Me and Drew with Patrick Stewart!
Denzel Washington!
Meryl Streep
MORGAN FREEMAN!
Telling Jokes with Robin Williams!
Drew and Reese got a little overwhelmed (Mommy and Daddy did too) with the amount of people around, but thankfully some parts of the museum were a little less chaotic so they were a little more cooperative when it was time to take a picture!
Drew and Tyra- Diva-Off!
One of Mommy’s Favorite Friends!
Training with Barbara Walters for a New Version of The View!
Spending Time with Royalty!
Some of my favorite figures were those of people that are no longer with us. It was nice to be photographed with the likes of Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, and Babe Ruth!
Traveling Back in Time to Pose with Princess Diana!
Avoiding Being Hit by Babe Ruth!
Being Blinded was Totally Worth It! I LOVE LUCY!
The King of Pop!
I really enjoyed “The Spirit of New York” section. There were many great figures, but my favorite one made me cry! I did not take a picture with it, but did get one of it!
Still Chokes Me Up!
Drew’s Been Asking to See the Statue of Liberty!
Drew, Reese, and Daddy in the Crown!
I enjoyed seeing some great musicians as well, the only downside is none of them were actually performing! Drew did break out into song with a few, and I found my husband’s doppleganger!
Singing a Duet with Jerry Lee Lewis
Duet with Tina Turner
OMG!!! It’s PRINCE!!!
If Matt Grew His Hair Out …….
Drew and Diana Ross!
The Marvel Super Heroes 4D Experience ended up being everyone’s favorite! We were a little bummed that we missed Captain America, but we did see Thor, the Hulk, IronMan, and an awesome 4-D movie! Our 2 year old was slightly overwhelmed by the movie, but was content to just snuggle with me until it was over. If you plan on bringing little ones to Madame Tussaud’s , I would not recommend skipping the movie, but be prepared to miss some of it!
