With so many people in our family to buy for and also with spending limits, sometimes finding the perfect gift can be difficult. One of the best ways for me to find ideas are by searching lists that others have put together for fun, fabulous ideas for all the people on my list.
For Kids:
I love getting books for both my kids and my nieces and nephews. This year I found this site, Publishers Weekly that has some amazing suggestions of Picture Books, Middle Grade books, and Young Adult. I loved what I found and have put these on my list to buy:
The Farmer and The Clown by Marla Frazee
Give and Take by Chris Raschka
Operation Bunny by Sally Gardner
The Witch's Boy by Kelly Barnhill
The Story of Owen: Dragon Slayer of Trondheim by E.K. Johnston
For the best toy ideas, I always can find things at all the big box stores. This list, by Toy's R US, has a list of their picks for TOP 15. I know of at least one item on this list that is on S's list and we have already had trouble finding them in stores. Amazon has a Hot Toy list, available to see here. Amazon also had this specialty list, created by Amazon Mom Facebook Fans, it is the Mom's Pick 2014. I saw at least one thing on this list too.
I also try to shop local and use them to find unique ideas. One of our local shops put out a great Holiday Catalog to use for ideas.
I love that companies can put out these lists, it helps give great ideas and helpful information about the products. I also like to see what other people have felt about these items before I spend money on them.
For Adults:
I think adults are so much harder to buy for. That being said, there are so many places to look for cool ideas for all the people on your list. One of my favorite lists at the holiday time is Oprah's Favorite Things list. I love seeing what she has on it and have even purchased items from it in the past. Here are my faves on the 2014 list.
Letter Stud Earrings by Red C Jewels
Copper Mug and Tray Set from Sertodo
Heart Snapshot Mix Photo by Minted.com
Headbands by Emi-Jay.com
I also like flipping through my Parents magazine and seeing their holiday list ideas for both kids and adults. Check out these great adult ideas here.
I know there are so many lists and sites out there dedicated to helping you find all the ideas you need to complete your holiday shopping.
What sites do you like to use?
