Easter will be here in a little over 2 weeks, and that means within the next few days Matt and I will be starting to plan what to put in the girls' baskets this year. We try to keep the candy to a minimum, because we are seriously still weeding through all the Halloween candy. Plus, if previous years are any indication, between my Mom, Matt's parents, and my Grandma Madeline, they will certainly be getting more than enough of it anyway. We prefer that the girls' baskets contain things like books, arts and crafts items, and toys (even though they have plenty of these things too).
My favorite thing to include in the girls' baskets are books, because you really could never have too many. For Easter, I try to look for books that teach the girls the true meaning of the holiday and about the Bible. I love when stories that will help them grow in their faith are presented in a way that is not completely overwhelming for them and helps start discussions about our family's beliefs.

Earlier this month, we were fortunate to receive a review copy of National Geographic Kids- 1,000 Facts About the Bible. I was very excited when the book arrived, and could not wait to start reading it with the girls. As soon as Drew saw it, she requested we start reading it that night before bed. That request was definitely approved!

National Geographic Kids- 1,000 Facts About the Bible is wonderfully illustrated and serves as the perfect easy-to-follow reference guide for kids (and their parents!). We are looking forward to reading the entire book, but so far our absolute favorite parts have been "15 Facts About Noah and His Awesome Ark" and "25 Pint-Size Facts About Children".

Based on our experience, this is definitely the kind of book I would love to include in Drew's Easter basket. At 7 years old, she is totally into it, soaking up each word, whether I am reading it aloud or she is reading it to herself. Reese enjoyed reading the book with us before bed, but since she is 2 years old and has a slightly shorter attention span, the book is a little much for her at this time. She will receive a copy when she is a little older though!
