I love caramel apples, it's a childhood treat that I crave year round. When I have a layover at DFW, I can't wait to head to the candy store in the D terminal to buy a jumbo caramel apple. I stuff that bad boy in my purse and eat in on the plane. When I'm not travelling, it can be really hard to find them around town, especially when it's not autumn. I can't get enough of the juicy apple with that sticky caramel. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I once paid $20 in Branson for a caramel apple, it was a splurge, and ridiculously over priced, but I just had to have it!
I've dabbled with making them a few times, and while it was so much fun to make and so good to eat, the mess it leaves behind makes me never want to attempt making them again. So I went in search of a caramel dip that I could easily make at home, with ingredients I already had. I hate finding the perfect recipe only to realize that you are missing several ingredients. This caramel dip is quick and easy to make, with only 4 ingredients.
Caramel Dip
8oz Cream Cheese (softened)
1/4 C of White Sugar
3/4 C of Brown Sugar
1 tsp of Vanilla
(Recipe found on Pinterest)
In a large bowl or mixer, blend together all ingredients making sure there are no lumps, and everything is fully incorporated. You can serve right away, but I like it better chilled.
The Caramel Dip, fresh out of the fridge and ready to eat!
This dip is very sweet, I would almost be inclined to omit the white sugar all together, but it is up to you. You can add toffee bits to make is a toffee crunch dip, or any kind of candy you like. There is so much versatility with this dip, you can turn it into whatever your heart desires.
Serve with apple slices or pretzels, even marshmallows. It's really up to you, and it is sure to be a crowd pleaser. I plan on making this as gifts around the Holiday's. I'm so glad I found this recipe and that I was able to share it with you all. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
