I remember when I was in school, Field Day was one of the days everyone looked forward to. We had relay races, jump rope contests, fun runs, and more. At the end of the day awards were given out and we were all exhausted. This day was a great way to stay moving and active, for all the kids in our school. Physical exercise is so important for all ages, and days like Field Day, give everyone the chance to enjoy them.

Today is Field Day at B's school. Each grade will be a specific color and the kids will be able to let loose and have fun with their buddies, while getting tons of physical exercise and also work on team building skills. The day will consist of a variety of events, games, and competitions that everyone can enjoy, from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.

 

My husband and I volunteer every year to take part in this day and we are really looking to spending it at school and being active as well.

 

Here are some of the events planned for our Field Day

Water Balloon Slingshot

Jughead-this is a small team relay where you run down, fill a jug, bring it back and pour it into another container, first team to fill wins

Bucket Brigade-teams pass a water bucket with holes from start to finish and try to fill another container, first team to fill wins

Water Balloon Toss

Over Under Sponge Relay-wet sponge starts and kids pass over and under until the end, fastest team wins

Sponge Head Race-Grab a sponge, run down, soak it, run back, pass it on to next teammate, fastest team wins

Wet Dog Relay-grab a huge stuffed animal, run down to a huge tub of water, soak animal, carry it back, fastest team wins

 

Our school loves to do water games, this is a great way to get soaked, and the kids LOVE it. We are working at the Wet Dog Relay station, it is our favorite. It is so hilarious to see the little kids carry this animal that weighs more than they do. Later in the day there will also be a school wide kickball game to finish the day.
