Todays random act of kindness challenge is all about an awesome new smart phone app that will allow you to randomly get asked to perform a random act of kindness.
Im talking about the new app Be My Eyes. Creator, Hans Jørgen Wiberg, who is visually impaired, wanted there to be a way for seeing impaired individuals to get help with small every day tasks where a pair of eyes would really be helpful. Thus, Be My Eyes was born. Basically what Be My Eyes is, is a way for a person with impaired vision to get help from someone who can see by using a video chat format. Say Im seeing impaired and I need to know where my red sweater is in my room. I open up Be My Eyes and the app will then message its users about someone needing help. The first available user answers and a one way video chat (you are not on video, its just your voice) begins. I then ask hey can you help me find my red sweater? You watch as I move the phone around and tell me, its on your bed to the left. Boom, I get my sweater and I say thanks. The end. Its SO simple!
Check out the videos below or any of the links to learn more about how to get started with Be My Eyes. I can't wait to get my fist call!
This is such a cool idea! It's amazing the creativity that's coming out with apps these days.
