Thank you to Sky Horse Publishing for providing me with The Alphabet of Bugs in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.
Travel through the alphabet with The Alphabet of Bugs to learn about the many beautiful and unusually named bugs found in nature—and brush up on those ABC's as well!
The Alphabet of Bugs is the perfect gift for both those learning the alphabet and insect lovers. Even those normally squeamish around bugs will enjoy the colorful photographs of these unique and beautiful creatures. Children who already know their basic bugs will broaden their horizons to the more unique and rare, and parents who are tired of simple butterflies and beetles will find this book worth rereading. Spectacular real-life photographs of insects of all kinds will inspire both children and parents to learn more about the different creatures found in the natural world. This book is meant for readers ages 3–5 (grades preschool–kindergarten).

We received our own copy of The Alphabet of Bugs, and couldn't wait to check it out!
B finds bugs pretty fascinating. At times, he isn't sure whether to be totally amazed by them, or sort of freaked out. We have often discussed the different types of bugs over morning snack, juice and coffee (after you become a parent, there aren't many things that gross you out anymore). We enjoy looking at photographs of different insects, pointing of differences and similarities. B always tends to be drawn to the sinister-looking bugs, and I love the ones that are colorful and have beautiful details.
We knew nothing about the Eastern Lubber Grasshopper before reading this book!
The beautiful artwork captures the true beauty of each and every bug featured in The Alphabet of Bugs.
The Velvet Ant... so velvety!
B can't get enough of this gorgeous book!
I loved bugs when I was a kid, and have fond memories of looking for katydid shells on trees in the woods with my mom and sister. I have tried to instill that same wonder, appreciation and respect for these magnificent creatures in my own son. The Alphabet of Bugs gives us an up close and personal view of many bugs we wouldn't dare get too close to in real life. Not only are we able to view and appreciate their true beauty, we're able to work on letter and word recognition in a fun, new way. The repetitive consonants and vowels are helping B expand his vocabulary, and helps him with reading comprehension, as well. It's never too early to introduce your children 'bigger' words, or to encourage proper grammar and speech.
The Alphabet of Bugs has already become a family favorite, and is one that we have read many times, as we track B's summer reading progress. This is such a neat way to review the ABC's your your child(ren), and would make a wonderful addition to your home library, or to your classroom, if you happen to be a teacher!
