It's been raining for days on end all over the country, and NC has been no exception. Not only have we endured almost three weeks of yucky, misty, rainy, balmy weather, you'd think it was spring time, rather than winter time. As we prepped for Christmas, we did it all in the rain, and we super bummed when we learned that it would be raining on Christmas Day, as well as the days that were to follow. We wanted to surprise B with an awesome ride-on toy for Christmas, which would be perfect for him now, and even ten years from now... but what kind of toy grows with your child?

We first learned about PlaSmart's awesome PlasmaCar when we were at our Cousin C's house. He had one sitting in the driveway, and B took a quick spin on it, and fell in love. It was the coolest, wackiest ride-on scooter we'd ever seen... I was even eager to give it a whirl!
We were really lucky to be able to team up with PlaSmart right before the holidays, and they sent us a super cool red PlasmaCar. I was so bummed that it was so wet and rainy for so long, that we weren't able to test it out before Christmas. However, it worked out so that we could surprise B with this awesome ride-on toy on Christmas morning!
The PlasmaCar came packaged with everything shown here- the board, wheels, steering wheel, hardware, and simple instructions.
I asked my hubby to take the PlasmaCar to a friend's house, and assemble it over there, so that B would be none the wiser. He said assembly was quick and easy, taking less than 20 minutes to put it together. There's even a handy YouTube video for PlasmaCar Assembly on the PlaSmart website! I was excited that we received this in red, because it's a great color for B, and then S will also be able to play with it as she gets older. The PlasmaCar is intended for ages 3+.
Here's the PlasmaCar all put together- looks great!
I couldn't wait for Christmas morning to roll around, so we could surprise B with the PlasmaCar! I only hoped he wouldn't be too upset that he wouldn't be able to play with it on Christmas day, due to the gross rain.
When Christmas morning finally came, the PlasmaCar was near the tree, with a big bow on it. B didn't even go for any of the many wrapped gifts under or around the tree... he went straight for the PlasmaCar! He was so excited, and I wish that I had been a bit faster with my camera to capture more of it. B couldn't wait to sit on it, and try it out. We tried to explain to him that it would work best outside! It's not intended for use on the hardwood floors, because the wheels might cause damage to some floors.
Regardless, B wanted to see how he fit on his new PlasmaCar!
So much fun!
We were thrilled that he loved the PlasmaCar so much, and he was most excited that he know had one, just like his big cousin C. He looks up to him so much, and wants to be just like his 11-year-old best pal! Now all that we needed was a nice, sunny day, so we could take the PlasmaCar outside, and play with it- putting it to the MBP test! We had to wait until the Tuesday following Christmas to be able to ride the PlasmaCar outside. It even rained that morning, but as soon as we notice the sun breaking through, we made a mad dash for our shoes, and ran outside with the PlasmaCar!
First things first, safety is of utmost importance. Normally, I would have B wearing his helmet, and it's important to note that the PlasmaCar can tip over, if your child's weight isn't evenly distributed. I tried my best to remind B to keep his rear square on the seat at all times. We just discovered the other day that his helmet is a bit too snug, so we're waiting for his new one to arrive.
We first tested the PlasmaCar on our front walk, where we have a wide concrete slab.
Our driveway is gravel, and is only enough space for two cars to park, so riding there is pretty much out for us. Luckily, we have a long sidewalk in front of our house, which is perfect for riding the PlasmaCar on, and all of the Grands have long, wide driveways, too. The front walk was the perfect place for B to test the PlasmaCar out and get a feel for it. It's a silly, fun ride-on, and goes sort of wonky when you steer!
B got the hang of how to ride the PlasmaCar right away, and needed little to no assistance from me.
It may look like B is a giant compared to the PlasmaCar (he's five years old), but the PlasmaCar is for kids as young as three years, and can be enjoyed by older kids, as well.
