Thank you to Chococurb for providing me with product, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.
I don't know many moms who don't love chocolate. For me, it's a special indulgence. My husband thinks I am sort of silly, because I often save bars of special or dark chocolate, and put them in a special place in the pantry for my chocolate emergencies. There are plenty of times that call for chocolate breaks:
Long day at work
Long day with the kids
Stuck in traffic
Sharing with friends
Family gatherings
Special occassions
Mommy's time-out
Eating and enjoying chocolate should be an experience. Chocolate isn't just a snack to munch on for the sake of having a snack. I'm not really a fan of milk chocolate, but I love milk chocolate combine with other flavors- fruits and nuts. My hubby loves white chocolate, and I love dark chocolate in particular. I was so excited to find out about Chococurb, which is a delicious monthly subscription box offering (you guessed it) chocolate!
Chococurb is a chocolate discovery experience. They help people discover extraordinary chocolate with our monthly subscription boxes and through their shop, where they can find some truly incredible products.
We were sent a Chococurb box to try out, and my little sweets lover couldn't wait to help me unbox!
The chocolates were packaged in this lovely blue box.

Pretty sweet, right? It was a lot of fun to unbox the chocolate with B, but when it came time to taste test, I needed the help of my hubby! He was so excited to lay eyes on the box. He went staright for the White Swan White Chocolate, and couldn't wait to try it! I have to admit, I was pretty excited about trying these chocolates, myself. I have been eating very little chocolate during my pregnancy, but a little bit in moderation is okay.
At first glance, I thought the selection of chocolates was wonderful.
I love a subscription box that doesn't break its promises. Chococurb boasts at least five chocolates, and that's exactly what I received in my box. Not only were there five chocolate treats- they were full sized. No tiny little sample pieces in this box- this is the real deal. Have you ever bought several bars of specialty chocolate at once? I tend to do this for stocking stuffers, and depending on the brand or quality of the chocolate, you could easily wind up spending between $30.00 - $50.00 on just 4-5 bars!
The Chocolate Vitale is a European Drinking Chocolate- can you say yum?
I love 'hot chocolate.' We've had some serious winter weather in NC over the past couple of weeks, and I have definitely been in the mood for hot chocolate. The Chocolate Vitale isn't your typical hot cocoa. It's not made with cocoa powder like most hot chocolate mixes are- it's made from Swiss and Belgium chocolate! Yes, when you drink this, you are truly drinking chocolate! It doesn't get much better than that!
The Chocolate Vitale retails for about $4.00/pack.
The Antidote Chocolate offers unique flavor combinations!
If you love super dark chocolate, this is the chocolate bar for you! This is a very dark 77% raw & roasted cacao chocolate. If you're anything like me (a dark chocolate lover), the darker the chocolate, the better. This bar has just the right amount of sweetness, combined with rose salt, and a hint (and I do mean just a hint) of lemon. The rose salt was actually the first thing I tasted, and then came the chocolate, which was an absolute treat! This is the perfect chocolate to pair with a nice glass of wine, or maybe even a cup of coffee. Yum!
The Antidote Chocolate Bars retail for about $6.95.
I was eager to taste the Rózsavölgyi Csokoládé, because it sounded so unique!
I felt like I was unwrapping a special gift when I opened up this chocolate. It was so nicely wrapped!
When I saw the gorgeous design on the chocolate, it was really hard for me to break a piece off to taste it- this chocolate tile was so beautiful!
I love chocolate and cocoa nibs, so I knew this would be quite an experience! The chocolate itself was absolutely delicious- dark, and creamy! The cocoa nibs gave the chocolate a bit of crunch and texture, which I loved. The interesting thing about this chocolate was the overall taste, which was a bit perfume-like to me. As much as I enjoyed this bar, I may have to wait until after S is born to enjoy the rest, when my taste buds are a bit less wacky and sensitive. This is a chocolate that I would have a tiny piece of at a time, and enjoy over a period of time.
Rózsavölgyi Csokoládé retails for $12.99/bar.
The Alma Chocolate hails from Portland, Oregan.
When I saw sea salt and hazelnut on the packaging, I was sold! That's a favorite flavor combination for me! I love sea salt (cook with it all the time), and combined with chocolate it's a winning flavor combo. I like the flavor of hazelnut, but had no idea what I was really in for, until I opened up the package.
Now, this is what I call chocolate! Look at those salt crystals and chunks of hazelnut!
This bar isn't wide, but it's thick! The inside is truffle-like, and is just heavenly! This chocolate is a bit less dark than the others I tasted, which is totally okay, because the bold flavor combinations had me hooke after just one bite! I kept it to eating just one square of this, but I definitely wanted more! This was incredible!
Alma Chocolate retails for about $5.00/bar.
Hubby's pick- Forte's White Swan White Chocolate Bar
My hubby loves to indulge in white chocolate. He was in heaven when he bit into this rich, creamy bar! He's not a huge fan of espresso, but it's very finely ground and mixed in with the white chocolate, which he actually loved! Not only was it a nice white chocolate treat for him, it was a bit of a pick-me-up after a tough, long day at work. With a new baby joining us in just about 10 weeks, I see many chocolate breaks in our future!
Forte Chocolate retails for about $6.00/bar.
The box also included a Chococurb sticker, and a note from the founders.
Chococurb would make an aweome monthly treat for yourself, or for someone else- it makes a great gift for chocolate lovers!
I was really impressed by Chococurb. I have tried other monthly boxes which include some chocolates or treats, and this is probably the best one out there. It's all chocolate, and it's all hand selected by folks who are serious chocolate lovers. No filler chocolates here- you're absolutely getting your bang for your buck, and then some! Would it be in bad taste if I were to include a Chococurb subscription on my baby registry?
All of the chocolate brands that are offered through the Chococurb Box can be purchased in individual bars on the Chococurb website. This is awesome! The site contains product and brand info on all of the chocolates offered in the box- that way, if you really liked something that came in your monthly box, you can go and purchase more of it! No one likes running out of their favorite chocolate!
