When I think back to five years ago, and what it was like living with a newborn, those memories are a bit blurry. Blame it on sleep deprevation if you will- I remember a cloud of nursing, rocking, and many sleepless nights. B was a happy newborn until he hit about four weeks old, and then the colic began. It was non-stop crying and screaming for hours on end, and hubby and I were desperate for sleep. Though controversial to do so, I wound up sleeping upright with B on my chest most nights. We nursed and napped through the night, and it was the only way he would lie down and sleep. I was so thankful for it at that point.

With Baby S on the way, we know a few things about what we're in for. We're hoping she'll be an easier, happier baby than B was, but you never know. One thing is for certain- we're going to make every effort to rest better this time around.

Baby Delight knows a thing or two about safe, sound sleep solutions for babies and their parents. I ran across Baby Delight for the first time when I was looking through baby registry must haves, and there were Baby Delight products listed. I'd never heard of Baby Delight before, but I liked what I saw, and had to check them out.

Baby Delight was founded in 2000 by a mom who realized that the bassinet was preventing the closeness she desired with her newborn daughter. Knowing the dangers associated with co-sleeping, she started experimenting with ways to create a safer area on her own bed that would protect her newborn and allow the closeness she wanted for those first precious months. With her second baby, she refined her ideas into a simple, innovative product design, and the Snuggle Nest was born! The Snuggle Nest, a protective co-sleeping bed, was an immediate success at that time, since there was no other option for co-sleeping parents on the market, other than bedside bassinets.

Introducing the Snuggle Nest Surround XL by Baby Delight

A mom after my own heart! We co-slept with B, and we knew that it was controversial, and we knew the risks involved. I was ridiculously aware at all times when I co-slept with my baby. We made every safety precaution available to make sure our baby was safe. We never intended on co-sleeping, but we had to do what we had to do in order for everyone to get some rest.

Baby Delight was kind enough to send us their wonderful, award-winning Snuggle Nest Surround XL.

The Snuggle Nest Surround XL is a safe co-sleeper for infants (0-4 mo) and their parents. I wish that I had access to this product when B was a baby! Not only is it designed for use in bed with mom and dad, it's portable! Every parent's dream!

Every side of the Snuggle Nest Surround includes important product information. There are lots of photos which demonstrate how to safely and properly use the Snuggle Nest Surround. It includes lots of wonderful features, including an incline position. If you want to ditch the bassinet for those first few months, this is the way to do it.

This is the Gray Elefontes Print Snuggle Nest Surround XL, right out of the box.

The Snuggle Nest Surround XL is available in a variety of prints, but I fell in love with the Elefontes print, as we're using gray and pink, and elephants as a theme in the nursery. The print combines words and phrases with adorable elephants in white, against a gray background. One of the cool things about this product, is that it folds in on itself, zips closed, and includes a carry handle. The portability feature is a lifesaver!

Unzipped, and laid out, the Snuggle Nest Surround XL expands to create a safe, cozy nest for your baby. It can be used pretty much anywhere- in the bed, or in a safe place, on the floor.

The soft sides surround baby and keep her safe. It's important to note that this should only be used with your baby up to age 4 mo. Once your baby can roll over, you should discontinue use of the Snuggle Nest Surround XL. Baby should always be placed on his or her back to sleep- swaddled, in a safe sleep sack, without loose blankets or toys.

The Snuggle Nest Surround can be unzipped, and washed. Hey- accidents happen at all hours of the day and night, so this is a great feature.

The inside of the Snuggle Nest is wipable, which is wonderful. If baby has leaks, blow outs, or spits up while in the Snuggle Nest, clean up should be quick and easy.

I love the long length of the Snuggle Nest Surround.

B was a long baby, and it didn't take long for him to outgrow a number of clothes, diapers, sleepers, etc. This allows plenty of room for growing babies!

The Snuggle Nest also includes a click-in sound and light soother.

The little speaker is battery opperated, and has an easy to use volume control. The soother gently plays relaxing meolides of Brahams Lullaby. Classical music has such an impact on babies, so I love that this is what Baby Delight chose to include for the musical option.

The Snuggle Nest Surround has soft, moldable sides, which allows easy access to your baby. When B was a newborn, he slept in a bassinet beside our bed (or at least started out there). There wasn't room on my side of the bed for the bassinet, so it lived on hubby's side. He gretzed about having to wake up several times a night to hand the baby to me for feeding. I had a C-Section, and needed the assistance, so I wasn't having to get up so much while I healed. Having baby between us at arm's reach will be so nice, and I can't wait for our Snuggle Nest Surround experience.

I love that the Snuggle Nest Surround XL is portable!

I have no doubt that we'll be hitting the road with Baby S this summer, headed on a family beach trip. I was so nervous about our first trip away from home when B was about 3 months old. We couldn't take the bassinet with us, so we used a pack 'n play for him to sleep in. I don't think I slept a wink on that trip- I was just so anxious over his safety the whole time. Being able to take the Snuggle Nest Surround with us will be so wonderful! It will also take up far less room in the car! I am so excited about being able to bring along a portable co-sleeper.
