Next month might be filled with April showers, so here are five ideas for an indoor Books & Brunch playdate.
1. Invite your friends to bring two gently used (or new, if you can't imagine parting with any)
books to swap. Look for cheap options at Marshall's, TJ Maxx or similar stores. Once all the books are added to the stack, everyone gets to choose two new ones!

2. Have some
thematic snacks! Once I started thinking about the connections, they were easy to make. You can either decide what you want to serve and find a related book (example: I had graham crackers shaped like cows, so I found
Moo Baa Lalala); or you can choose a book-related food and make that (example:
Green Eggs and Ham is a classic, so I made spinach & ham quiche).

3. Something for the mamas! Back in my younger days, brunch meant Mimosas or Bloody Marys, but not anymore. Serve
virgin cocktails such as sparkling water with your choice of fruit juice, or choose from these fun
LaCroix Cocktails.
4. Make a cute
library-themed craft. Although our play group opted to go outside instead of making these cute
chalkboard library bags, if it is raining, channel that creative energy with one of
these projects!
5. Then go
celebrate National Library Week, April 10-16. Check your local branches for toddler storytimes and events. We made some of our best new friends at our library's baby story time when we moved last year. They usually include time for FREE books, toys, music, and in our case, bubbles.
