Waking up in the morning is rough! My soon-to-be three year old just recently started sleeping through the night (yay!), the 13 month old still hasn't got it
down. You can imagine I've got some beauty rest to catch up on! I have luckily found a few quick remedies for morning drowsiness that I would love to share with you:
Drink Water
The first thing I do every morning is drink a glass of water. Water is important to keep all your systems running well, and most people go 5-10 hours without it at night. I like to have a glass waiting for me within reach. Hydrating immediately clears away most of my grogginess and makes me feel good about taking care of my body.
Stretch
I do a few quick stretches to get my body ready for the day. I bend over, touch my toes, reach up in the air, take some deep breaths. Really, do whatever works for you. It only takes a couple minutes but your muscles will thank you.
Bounce-
Ok, this one might sound silly: bounce on an exercise ball. During my last pregnancy I started bouncing and sitting on a balance ball daily, I found that bouncing for about five minutes is a fun, caffeine-free way to wake up! Also, it helps my back and hips feel a little more aligned. Always start with a gentle bounce (really, that's all you need) and if you feel up to, it try going at a faster pace. It's hard to feel sleepy after all that bouncing, just ask Tigger!
I usually follow all this with a cup of black coffer, but by that time I'm already feeling energized and ready for the day.
Do you have any tried and true methods to wake up? I'm always up for trying something new : )
never tried the bouncing but I love have a glass of water and getting a good stretch first thing in the morning. morning workouts are my fav
