Well folks, the last day of school has rolled around again! This day brings out SO many feelings for me. I have the "Teacher" feelings and the "Mommy" feelings! I've taught for 18 years and I truly love my job and every child I have taught over the years. The last day of school is always bittersweet. Yes....I am SO ready for summer break because I'm a beach girl and I can't wait to get caught up on my reading. And not having to set the alarm clock every night makes me happy, happy, happy!! Aiden and I do lots of fun things in the summer and I love making memories with him. Yes...there will be many tears today! My children are my babies and I love them. It's so sad to kiss them all goodbye for the summer. Luckily, I work at a private school so I will see them all again in the fall. And most of them over the summer at the pool, but that initial goodbye for summer is gut wrenching. I'm so, so proud of all they have learned and how much they have grown this year. This is also a big year for me because my very first class graduated from college!! Yes...college!!! I CAN NOT believe it! This makes me feel very old but very, very proud. Once again, being at a private school and in a small town I still see a lot of my first class and have kept up with them through Facebook. It warms my heart to see them walking across the stages of some great colleges and heading into adulthood and the real world. Did I mention that this makes me feel old?? Finally, my little baby boy is finishing 2nd grade. I really don't know how this is possible because he was just born a couple of weeks ago. I'm so thankful for the amazing year he has had and the wonderful teachers that have taught him so much! He has really grown up and matured so much. He attends the school I teach at and I love being able to be active with him and always in the know of what is going on. This can be good and bad...depending on the situation. So, the best way to sum up this day full of feelings is to say that I am exhausted!!! And proud, sad, happy, thankful, blessed, old and so on and so on!! Enjoy every minute you are given because they fly by in a flash!
