COOP Scatter Dodgeball- A New Twist on a Classic Game: #Review and #Giveaway

When it comes to Dodgeball, I think you either love the game or wince at the thought (memories). I wasn't the best at the game, but I have fond memories of playing and think that with proper supervision, it's a pretty awesome game for kids.

I was recently given the opportunity to check out a game called Scatter Dodgeball, from the active lifestyle brand COOP Sports and while it's definitely not the Dodgeball I remember from my childhood, it is something I feel comfortable with my children playing.

How It Works:

This game is for 2-6 players ages 5+ (we let kids 2+ play, and it worked out just fine). Each player gets 2 wrist bands of the same color. Players form a circle and one player rolls the dice. Whoever is wearing wristbands of the color the dice lands on, is the thrower for that turn. As the other players scatter, the thrower aims to hit them with the (super soft foam) ball. Players that get hit with the ball surrender one of their bracelets to the thrower, but if the ball is caught, the thrower must surrender one of their wrist bands to the catcher. The first person to get all the wristbands wins the game!

How We Used It:

We brought the game to Matt's parents 4th of July party, figuring the children in attendance would love it. Many of the adults commented on how nice and soft the ball was and all of the kids (ages 2-30-something) had a lot of fun playing. I'm also glad to report there were ZERO injuries!

What We Thought:

I was a little worried that this game might not be well received by the kids, especially those that are familiar with classic dodgeball, but everyone ended up having a blast playing. Later in the afternoon, after the ball disappeared into a possible poison ivy bush, the kids were still using the bracelets and the dice to play a new version of tag! This is definitely a fun game to play with a group of kids, and will keep them going for quite some time.
