Our summer truly flew by. It seems as though the school year just ended, and now a new one is beginning. B started back to school today, and is now in his first year of kindergarten. I am so excited for him, and proud of him for the way he has handled the transition from preschool to kindergarten. We did what we could over the summer to work on reading and writing- not always easy with baby sister in arm. One of the things that helped us stay on track, was receiving the awesome LeapStart from LeapFrog!

We absolutely love LeapFrog! Their educational products for kids have been part of B's life from the very beginning. LeapFrog has a multitude of fun learning toys and games for toddlers and kids- ones they're sure to love as they grow!

B was totally excited to get his hands on the new LeapStart, and to check out all of the fun books that came with it!

The LeapStart has lots of coordinating books for preschoolers, kindergarten and first grade learning levels.

Each spiral bound book is thin, and fits right into the LeapStart for fun, electronic learning!

The books are color coded- each color matches the coordinating age or grade level.

Our LeapStart was the perfect thing to keep B connected with learning through the summer. In the past, I have taken time to plan out different activities during summer break, so B could continue his education while school was out. This summer was much harder to make these types of plans with a new baby at home with us. B was so very excited to start learning and having fun with the LeapStart. He went right for the purple and red books, which were geared toward Kindergarten and first grade.

The system we received was pre-loaded, but I wanted to check out the set up process, anyway. The system came with a set up card which contained the instructions for setting up the LeapStart. We already had a LeapFrog account, so all that was really left to do was to connect the LeapStart to the computer for set up. Within a matter of minutes, we were ready to play!

The LeapStart does work without the books, and with the slim starter book that's included with the set. To use the LeapStart, turn it on and run the electronic pen over images on the starter set or in the books. The book interacts with your child by talking to them, and asking them to complete tasks in the books. B loves to solve puzzles, trace letters and numbers, do math problems and reading from the LeapStart books.

We have been trying to cut down on B's screen time. We love the LeapFrog learning tablets, but sometimes B needs time away from screens. We recently took a vacation to NJ from NC, and it was a 12 hour drive. This was the perfect time to really see how well B did with the LeapStart. He played on it during the daytime, and it entertained him in the car, and at home!

B has been having so much fun playing and learning through the LeapStart. We love that it's an educational tool that he enjoys. It's easy to use, and he can use it on his own, or we can sit down and play and explore together.
