When I was a little girl, I used to love using my imagination when I played My sister and I would often build forts in the living room, using the dining chairs, and all of the pillows and blankets we could find. Now that I am a mom, I see my own son wanting to do the same thing, and we have built many forts on many rainy days. The only thing I dislike about it is dragging out all of the blankets. It's sort of a pain to have to fold them all back up and put them away. I have long looked for a fort set that can easily be set up and broken down, and one that my little man would enjoy building and playing with.

We've had the pleasure of working with HearthSong, and sister company, Magic Cabin in the past, and we have been so pleased with the items we have received. They are all still among B's favorite toys and activities, even years later!

We were excited to receive the Fantasy Forts Set from HearthSong!

The Fantasy Forts set is a great way to enjoy fort building and play time with your kids! The set includes 16 cardboard 'wooden' panels- some have cut outs for windows, others are full panels. The set also comes with red Velcro strips to secure the pieces together with, and cardboard building pieces.

The 32 pc set is actually two of the 16 pc sets. This is plenty of pieces for building a fantastic fort!

When B opened up this awesome set of fort building supplies, he was beyond excited. He loves building forts, and couldn't wait for his daddy to get home from work, so they could build together!
Hubby also loves building forts, so I knew that this would be something that they would enjoy doing together. I was eager to see their interaction while building. B wanted to play with this amazing fort set immediately, so we opened up the packages while we waited for daddy to get home.

Ready to build!

We laid out the fort pieces in B's room. Unfortunately, we have a small house, and don't have a lot of space, so we knew that this would be a temporary set up for play. We laid out the cardboard panels, and fisheout the instructions for building. Each pack of panels came with a roll of red Velcro tape, and a way to measure the length that we needed to cut strips. The Velcro tape is used to hold the panels together at the sides while building. B enjoyed helping his daddy measure the red tape, and watching daddy cut the strips.

Once the strips were cut, and the connector cardboard pieces were folded together, it was time to get to building a fort!

B and my hubs used the panels to create a cool fort in B's room. They connected the panels so that the fort was tall enough for B to stand up in- in a tower section, and they also put a roof on it. They built the fort out, so that B could crawl into it, like a tunnel. It took about twenty minutes for them to get it all put together. It was great to see B's excitement for the fort to be built, and he had a great time building it with his daddy.

We wanted to make a really big fort for B to play in, but we ran out of space. My hope is that we can take the set outside this fall, when the weather is nice, and B can build a giant fort to play in! We'll have to take it all down when he's done, but I have a feeling that it'll be a lot of fun! B can't wait to build a fort with his Cousin C in a few weeks. We'll be getting together for a family birthday party, and the boys are going to have a blast playing with this awesome fort set!

We left the fort set up in B's room for a few days. He loved taking his blankets in there, and even asked if he could sleep in it. We often found him in the fort with stuffed animals, his superhero toys, etc. Even both of his grandmas were invite into the fort to play and read books. This fort set is an awesome gift idea for any child in your life to loves to create and explore!

It does take a little while to put the fort together, but for the most part, older kids can do this by themselves. B is almost six years old, and he did need help putting it together. My hubby thought this set was so cool, and the only drawback for him was that the red Velcro strips weren't pre-cut. The fort comes down easily, and can be stored with the pieces all stacked together.

So much fun! Let's hide out in the fort for a while!

I won't lie- I've thought about hiding out in the fort, myself! It would be cool for mommy to steal a few minutes and read in the fort, or make a phone call! Ha!
