Protect Their Skin (and Yours!) with UV Skinz Sunwear + Terry Hooded Beach Cover Up #Giveaway

How do you keep your family safe from the sun's harmful UV rays? My family loves to play outside, and come summertime, it can certainly be a challenge to keep everyone 'covered up.' We slather ourselves in sunscreen, don hats, and watch how long we've been out in the son. I am lucky that my kids tan pretty well. The have a bit of that Mediteranean skin that their momma does. When we put on swim suits for water play or beach trips, we almost do a little happy dance that we don't have to put sunsceen all over our entire bodies... but how do we know that those unslathered areas of our skin are still protected from the sun?
More now than ever before, attention is being paid to protecting our skin. I know far too many people in my life who have had to deal with some form of Melanoma, and I certainly worry about that for myself. I've had a few bad sunburns in my life, and often worry whether or not I will have to pay for them down the road.

I want to instill good sun protection habits in my kids, so that they'll always take the time to protect their precious skin. This summer, we added UV Skinz to our swim wardrobes to help us stay safe from the sun.

Skin cancer (or the possibility of it) it nothing to mess around with. My skin has started to show signs of great sensitivity to the sun, and I want to take measures to protect it. My kids are so young, and their lives are precious- I don't think that you can be too careful when trying to protect kids' skin when they're out in the sun.

UV Skinz outfitted our whole family with their amazing sunwear for our summer getaways. We headed to Topsail Island in NC in late May, and to Florida in early June, where we had a lot of fun in the sun. Everyone in the family received a piece of sun protective clothing from UV Skinz, and we were so excited to hit the beach and the pool in our new suits and coverups.

S doesn't spend a ton of time outside, and she still has very fair baby skin, so naturally, I want to protect her from the sun's damaging rays. A cover up is a great choice for little ones. S hates being wrapped up in towels, and the terry beach cover up from UV Skinz was easy to simply put over her arms and let her wear. She didn't mind it being on her- in fact, she liked snuggling up in it. The cover up features a hood, pockets, and a zip front. It's terry cloth and is super soft. It doesn't matter if it gets wet, and it's fast-drying. It helped so much with keeping S dry, and keeping her skin safe. We even pulled the hood up over her head (since she refuses to wear hats), and her head was protected from the intense summer sun on the beach.

Baby S loves her sun shirt, and we were so glad to have one with long sleeves, since the sun was so intense, and we experienced some cooler days on the beach. My son B (6) loves to play on the beach. He tans like I do, but still shows some sensitivities to the sun. We hardly ever allow him to play on the beach without a sun shirt or rash guard- but let him take the sun shirt off for a few minutes to cool off one particularly hot afternoon on the beach. I don't usually think about needing overall UV protection, but UV Skinz does! They have really cool retro boys board shorts, perfect for a day at the beach! B's board shorts are really fun- they're black timmed, and feature camo colored frogs! He really loves these board shorts and they've already been to the beach, to a campground, to Florida, and they're heading to the mountains with us this week! What I love about the shorts is that they protect B from the sun, and they are super fast drying!

When I'm at the beach or by the pool, you will probably find me in a cover up. It's not because I don't want to be seen in a swimsuit, rather that I have started to experience unplesant sun rashes. My skin is now very sensitive to the sun (as my grandmother's once was), and I break out in itchy patches. I try to keep covered up to prevent those rashes, and my new short cover up fom UV Skinz helps me stay cool, protected, and fashionable.

The women's short cover up is lightweight, and fast drying. My husband isn't too picky about what he wears when playing in the sun, sand and surf, but he does seem to have a hard time finding a swim shirt that he likes. UV Skinz to the rescue!
