Our family has had a lot of wonderful summer adventures. We've been traveling quite a bit, and have really been having a blast together. In June, our travels took us to Florida, where I was lucky enough to attend BlogHer '17 - the largest conference for (female) content creators in the world. Since the conference was being held in Orlando, we decided to make it a family trip for an entire week of fun in the sun! Our good friend Diane (my hubby's godmother) has a vacation ownership program, and was able to snag a condo in Kissimmee at Summer Bay Orlando by Exploria Resorts.
The resort was amazing! We had a two bedroom condo with a full kitchen and two bathrooms for the week. Hubby and I had a king size bed in our room and had the best sleep we've had in months! It was fabulous, and I miss that bed already! There was a sleeper sofa in the living room, which B thought was so cool to sleep on. The condo was a perfect home away from home for the week.

We didn't spend a ton of time in the condo. I was actually there more than the rest of the family since I still had to get my work done for the week. The internet speed wasn't the best, but I sucked it up and paid an extra $10.00 for premium speed. When I wasn't working, I was able to join my family and have some fun, fun, fun! The resort boasted five swimming pools! There was even a little water park for the kids right next to Buccaneer Bay, which had a giant slide, a zip line, an eatery, bumper boats, and more! There was a $25.00/day fee for the attractions, but it was unlimited use.

B had a blast at all five of the pools!
There were tons of daily activities to take part in- some were kid friendly, and others were for adults only, like happy hour, poker tournaments, and socials. Movies were available to check out and take back to your condo to enjoy. There was a tiki bar and grille at one of the main pools, which I never did get to visit, as I was too busyworking. The main pool also had a small pizza kitchen next to it, which we did eat dinner at our first night there. The staff was super friendly, and gave us some free beer- so they won me over with that guesture.
Beach and water activities at Sumemr Bay Orlando
The main pool area also had a little beach front and private lake next to it. You could rent jet skis, paddle boats, and even a little party barge for the day! There was a Publix grocery store right within the resort property, which was fantastic! We grilled our own chicken and steaks for dinner at one of the many gas grilles located within the resort. It was awesome to cook our own meals while there.
One of my favorite things about the resort was that they had a Starbucks on site! It was located right outside of their many lobby, and I did visit the coffee shop at least three times while we were there that week. Girl's gotta have her coffee fix.
Who doesn't love mini golf?
Oh, did I mention the mini golf? There was also a mini golf center right on the resort property. We actually never even played there, because I was exhausted after my conference each night, and the kids spent the day pool hopping with their daddy, their grandma and Diane.
If we hadn't planned day trips to Disney World and LEGOLAND while we were in Orlando for the week, the kids (and big kids) would have been perfectly happy- there were so many fun things to do at the resort, we could have stayed on the property all week! Summer Bay Resort was only a few miles from Disney World, so we were pretty much right off off Disney property, which was awesome! It made our day trips to Disney's Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs much more enjoyable, because we didn't have to fight traffic to get there. FYI- Saturday traffic in Orlando is no joke! Give yourself an extra 30-40 minutes if you need to be somewhere by a certain time!
We're hoping to head back to Summer Bay Orlando again! Our 2018 summer travels might be taking us up to Chicago and then to Michigan- as I have never seen the Great Lakes, and my family is insisting on taking me... I don't mind. This girl loves to travel!
Interested in checking out Summer Bay Orlando and booking a stay? If you're looking for accommodations close to Disney World and other attactions, I would highly recommend Summer Bay Resorts. They have a free shuttle service that runs to Disney World multiple times a day/night! Their condos are fabulous, and they also offer a hotel. Check out their website for more information. If Orlando is out of your travel realm, check out Exploria's fabulous resorts all over the world! We're looking forward to another Exploria vacation. They even have vacation property ownership options available, if that's something that interests you.
