Nichole Nordeman fans have something to sing about this summer upon the release of her latest studio album, EVERY MILE MATTERED. Nichole Nordeman is an extremely talented songwriter and singer, who I have actually had the pleasure of meeting. Nichole gave an intimate concert at my church two years ago, and I was blown away by her kindness and humble heart. In a world where the music industry has artists competing to be people they're not, I found it refreshing that Ms. Nordeman stays true to herself, and isn't afraid to be vulnerable and transparent through her music.
Nordeman has just released a new album, EVERY MILE MATTERED, which continues her love for sharing her personal struggles and stories through word and song. What I love about Nichole Nordeman and her music is that she's giving others a glimpse into her real life. She has shared about her personal struggles and her world crumbling down around her in the past. She's a divorced mom, trying to make the best life possible for her children, and still follow her heart and God's calling. In her last album, Nichole's songs pulled at our heartstrings. 'Slow Down,' became an instant hit and went viral across social media. The first time I heard it was live in concert, and I was expecting Baby S. Let's just say I was boo-hooing after the first verse. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. I can't listen to that beautiful song without becoming a total blubbering mess. I don't know how Nichole sings it again and again without breaking down.

The title track, EVERY MILE MATTERED, is my favorite song from Nordeman's new album. I can relate to so much of what Nichole has laid out in the song (watch the lyric video to get a better idea). Nichole knows what it's like to wonder about the 'coulda beens' of life, and she's lived through personal times of devastation and trials. In her own words, she literally had to ask God to 'sit in the rubble' of her crumbled world for a while, before she found newfound strength in Him, and was able to climb out of the trenches and start afresh.
EVERY MILE MATTERED focuses on our lives having meaning and great value. Everything we've been to up to this point in our lives has mattered. It's a beautiful reminder of trusting God's plan for our lives, His timing, and His promises. The entire album is beautiful. Nichole's voice is a burst of sunshine and a ray of hope on the darkest of days.
With Nichole Nordeman after her concert in Sept. 2015, St. John's Lutheran Chuch, Salisbury, NC. We have so much in common & a similar style!
Something else that's fun to know about Nichole Nordeman- she's incredibly funny. She has a phenomenal sense of humor and is a fantastic storyteller. She was completely gracious, and even accepted a copy of my own CD, Songs Along the Way, and thanked me for sharing such a beautiful gift with her.
