Build your imagination with Waffle Blocks!

I grew up with an older brother and I never quite understood his fascination with building blocks. I was the annoying little sister that just enjoyed knocking them over. I would play with them occasionally but I much preferred my baby dolls and Polly Pocket.

When my son was born in 2014 I was at a loss for what to do both in parenting and what toys to introduce him to. He has his fair share of toys to stretch his imagination in various ways but his favorite toys are trucks and building toys. Our little guy is very particular about the construction of his building projects too which is why I love Little Tike Waffle Blocks so much as it stretches his mind and makes him think outside the box (or bag in this case).

Little Tikes is based out of Hudson, Ohio and has been in the toy business for over 40 years! This very successful company has a pretty interesting history. Walk down memory lane and check out the timeline of their history and some of their debuts.

One of the things I love about waffle blocks is that the individual block is not symmetrical, two sides have three prongs and the other sides have two prongs. This makes what was once an easy task of construction much more difficult for my son. Which is awesome! It's not too challenging that he gets frustrated but just challenging enough for him to grow and learn how to problem solve.

Another added bonus is not all of the waffle blocks are flat, some are curved! Which adds an entirely new level of dimension allowing us to hinge some of the blocks together to form different building structures. My son accidentally created a wheel by adding too many curved pieces and now that is his favorite thing to build. I will say that it takes a little getting used to to disconnect the pieces as they fit together really well so little hands may need a little extra help in the beginning until they understand how to do it.
