For many (including myself), reading is an important part of life. Many precious memories revolve around reading for me, whether it be when I was very young, curled up next to my mom on the couch before bed as she read aloud a chapter of "Charlotte's Webb", or reading through a page-turning series as an adult. In both of those scenarios, a good book is at the center of an experience that I will never forget.
I am so excited to share with you about a company that has made it their main focus to give quality books as gifts! GiftLit offers 3, 6, and 12 month gift giving plans that are categorized by age group and theme. They also offer book substitutions in case the recipient would like a different book than the one they received in their gift box.
I was given "Dragons Love Tacos" from the "Cuddle Collection" theme (ages 2-5) which pairs a hard-back book with a stuffed animal for the "littles" in your life! This book came with an adorable stuffed dragon holding a taco. This simply could not be more precious.
As a family, this has been one of our favorite books for years. My two sons have requested this book be read to them at least 50 times (but probably more) and I have to say, I never mind because it's just that cute and funny. Our original copy is so worn and battered from years of wear and tear and having two young sons "enjoy" it like they have! I'm so very happy to have a brand new copy, with the accompanying stuffed dragon to boot!

I was also given a book from the 5-8 age group and "Beginning Chapter Books" theme called, "The Thank You Book".
Chapter books have started to play a very real role in our household as my oldest son is 6 years old and in the 1st grade. I love the introductory chapter books because they are not overwhelming or intimidating for new readers. They help to build confidence during this learning time in our kid's lives. My son feels confident in knowing he is reading more of a "big kid" book, yet isn't getting stumped by words that are a bit out of his range, still.
There are many options in the 5-8 category and you can peruse all of them here! They also have categories such as books for babies, ages 8-12, 12-14, young adult and adults. There is a book for everyone on your gift list this holiday season. Giving the gift of reading is the gift that continues to give. The "One For One" program that GiftLit has created allows them to partner with "Books For Kids", a national non-profit whose mission is to promote literacy in children. My favorite childhood book was My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. I read it countless times. My toddler is a little book lover, like me, and would love this subscription!!!
