As a mom of a two year old and one on the way, I am already starting to understand how those around me felt at the holidays with the abundance of toys and stuff. How do you make a list or give suggestions to minimize the amount of gifts, but make them what the kids will like? Hendrix is still in the toy stage and also loves books so I was intrigued by the idea of a book club. Elephant Books provides just that; a 1, 3, 6, or 12 month subscription to books.

Elephant Books is not just a book subscription service. They have also included little library cards to personalize the experience for children and so children can create their own little libraries. For ages 0 to 2, the shipment contains 3 board books while the 2 to 6 age range includes 2 books. The books arrive in the middle of the month and all have been reviewed by the Elephant Book crew.

Hendrix loves to read and I'm so glad that I have instilled that in him. We both enjoy going to the library and checking out new books to read as reading is a way to explore other worlds and situations. As a former teacher, I appreciate all that books have to offer from an educational standpoint, not only information, but facts about other cultures, situations, holidays, and much more.

One of the coolest aspects of Elephant Books is the idea of creating a personal library. Hendrix can then share his books with his friends. This can create dialogue and encourage sharing, both skills we all want to inspire in our children. For extra ideas and strategies, Elephant Books has a blog! I really enjoyed perusing what they've posted so far and I look forward to following it.
