Thank you to Maddie Rae's for providing me with product in exchange for my review. All thoughts are my own.
What does every kid want to make over their Christmas break this year? Slime, slime, and more slime! Ever since slime-making broke the mold, my son has been obsessed with the stuff, and begging to make different slime varieties. I'm cool with the slime-making. It doesn't generally make a mess, and it's pretty quick and easy to make. B had a great idea to make some holiday slime for some of his friends, and it made for a fun weekend project for us to do together.
Our slime-making was even easier than I imagine it would be, thanks to Maddie Rae's Slime Glue.
The DIY slime craze has been the largest social media fad of 2017, appearing all over YouTube and Instagram. Naturally, 12-year-old Madison Greenspan found herself swept up in this popular movement and with that, Maddie Rae’s Slime Glue was born! Maddie Rae’s glue is intended specifically for slime making and is offered in 8 oz. 3-packs, half-gallon clear and white, half-gallon combo packs and both clear and white gallons.
Madison made a name for herself in the slime world due to her brilliant business idea that has proven to be wildly successful. In March 2017, she launched Maddie Rae’s Slime Glue after she had trouble finding glue to make her slime as countless stores and websites were sold out of the sought-after commodity. Madison pleaded with her father, Howard Greenspan, owner of a consumer products company to help her make her own brand of glue. Since its launch in March, Maddie Rae’s Slime Glue has expanded to offer slime jars and food coloring, with custom glitter, microbeads and pigment powder to be debuted in early 2018.
With two large containers of Maddie Rae's Slime Glue, plus six containers for storage, we were all set for an afternoon of time-making.
We used the clear Slime Glue for our projects. The directions for slime-making were right on the back of the bottle of the Slime Glue, which made it super easy to follow the directions as we went along. I used a plastic bowl and a craft stick for stirring the slime mixture.
Maddie Rae's Recipe for Glitter Slime
Pour 1 cup of Maddie Rae's Clear Slime Glue into a bowl.
Add 1 cup of water, colored food coloring, glitter, then stir.
Add 1 to 2 pinches of baking soda. Mix slowly until dissolved.
Add 2 squirts of saline solution
Mix continuously until slime starts to form. Continue to add additional saline solution until you reach your desired consistency.
Store your slime in an airtight container when not playing with it.
The more you knead and play with your slime, the firmer and less sticky it will become!
Glittery green slime- perfect for holiday gifts!
The slime was easy to make. We opted not to use food coloring, but plan to use it the next time we make it. We made two slime batches- one with silver glitter, and one with green glitter. I found that we had to use more Saline solution than the recipe suggested to get a thicker consistency.
Both B and S enjoyed squishing the slime. We're excited to make new slime recipes over Christmas break and add in fun embellishments for an added sensory experience.
Storing the slime in air-tight containers keeps it just right for playing with over and over again! You can add a bow and tag, and gift it to friends and family!
Maddie Rae is a very impressive young lady!
I shared her story with B to show him that even kids can achieve their dreams at a young age!
Being a tween entrepreneur wasn’t achievement enough for Maddie Rae. With a team of over 100 people, Maddie Rae recently broke the Guinness World Record for the Largest Slime by making 13,820 pounds! This tremendous attempt took place on November 4th, at Play Fair New York, in the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. Since the event, the record-breaking slime can be purchased on Amazon and slimemaking.com, with 100% of the proceeds going to Hand in Hand hurricane relief, a charity selected by Madison (limited supply of record-breaking slime currently available for sale).
