Our Thoughts...
I have been so surprised by my 7-year-old son lately. Some of the things I thought he'd never watch again (because he's too big and too cool of a kid for 'baby shows'- his words, not mine), are tickling his fancy. He's rediscovered some shows he used to love to watch and is now finding new shows that he enjoys watching with his sister, S. NELLA The Princess Knight is a new show to our family, and it's one that we quite enjoy.
S is just starting to discover princesses, while B has loved knighthood and all that goes along with it for many years. This adorable animated series on Nickelodeon keeps both of my kids entertained- and they're 5 1/2 years apart in age. It breaks gender stereotypes and helps show my kids that girls can do everything that boys can do, and vice versa.
Nella is a strong character and role model for young girls, and boys, too. She is caring, and also brave. In the episodes included on this disc. my kids are reminded of important life lessons, such as what it means to be a good friend, how to help others, kindness, etc. It also teaches kids to stand up for what's right. In a world where kids are constantly faced with tough issues like how to deal with bullies, how to be a good friend, and making the right choices, this show is incredibly refreshing, and a helpful resource and educational tool.
If you haven't had the chance to check our NELLA The Princess Knight, I would recommend doing so! You can find it on Nickelodeon, on Nick.com, or stream it through the Nickelodeon Channel on Roku, etc.
