Thank you to JCPenny Home for providing me with product in exchange for my review.
All thoughts are my own.
Are you ready to spruce up your home for spring? I'll admit that when spring rolls around, my home is always in need of a little help. It seems like winter kind of makes the house seem stale and spring ushers in a breath of fresh air. There are a lot of simple ways to add a little spring flair to any living space- be it an apartment, home, or dorm room. I've got a few tips & tricks from JCPenny to share with you to help give your home a fresh look for spring.
5 Ways to Spruce Up Your Home for Spring
Spring Cleaning
It may be the most obvious way to lighten and brighten your home, but it's also one of the most important things to do at the start of every new season. Give your home a good deep cleaning. Make DIY cleaners using natural ingredients and make your home sparkle! You'd be amazed by how far a little baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice will go. I have two small kids, so I try to make my own cleaners and use them as an alternative to using any cleaning product which may have harsh chemicals in them. Check out this Natural All-Purpose Homemade Cleaner recipe and make some to use at home.
Add a Wreath
Add a beautiful spring wreath to a door or wall in your home for an instant pop of spring color!
I am a big fan of seasonal decor (tasteful seasonal decor), and enjoy using different wreaths throughout the year. In fact, I often use a wreath on my front door, my back door, and the door leading out to the back porch from my kitchen. It's a great way to add a little color, texture, and warmth to any indoor or outdoor space. This beautiful Floral Egg Wreath by JCPenny Home is the perfect marriage of Easter and Spring. It features lovely flowers, ivy, pepperberries, leaves, twigs, and speckled eggs. Originally priced at $42.00, this lovely wreath is now on sale for $19.99.
Use Floral Balls
These lovely floral balls enliven any space.
My mom used to use a lot of decorator florals in our home when I was growing up. I love flowers, so I was always intrigued by them. She took great care to arrange them just the right way, and always changed them out depending on the season. I also enjoy decorating with florals. My husband and kids suffer from seasonal allergies, so it's hard for me to bring fresh flowers into the house very often.
This stunning Spring Set of 3 Floral Balls by JCPenny Home is a lovely addition to anyone's spring decor. Display them across a mantle, use them like I did in a glass or decorative bowl, or even add them to a large apothecary jar. Buy two sets and make gorgeous DIY topiaries! Originally priced at $27.00, these floral ball trios are just $12.99 per set.
Clear the Clutter
Are you living in clutter? I'll be the first to admit that there's a lot of clutter in my home, mainly because we live in an old house with little to no storage space. With share living, dining, working areas, it can be pretty difficult to store everything away. Having a magazine worthy living room just isn't realistic in my situation. Instead, I've slowly been working my way through books, DVDs, CDs, and toys, storing what I can, and then getting rid of the things we just don't need anymore. Cut down on the number of things that are out in the open. Stack vertically, and take advantage of verticle space.
Minimize Your Color Pallet
Decorate with a few like or complimentary colors.
This is, of course, a very personal decision. Not everyone likes a lot of colors, and some people like tons of it. Finding the right balance is key. My style is bordering somewhere on traditional and rustic. My husband loves super modern and geometric style. I think it's okay to vary your style throughout the year. Springtime is perfect for experimenting with a rustic or farmhouse look. You can pick up some vintage accessories or decor pieces in local antique stores, and dress them up to suit your style, or leave them as is.
I like to stick with colors that I know work well together. In the spring, I like to use greens, yellows and creams or white. This is a fresh color pallet that really ushers in brightness. Combining the floral ball trio and floral egg wreath from JCPenny Home with my rustic chalkboard on the sideboard in my dining room has made for a nice visual. I love lighting a fresh white linen scented candle and breathing in this spring-like aura.
Bonus Tip: Freshen Your Linens
If you can't do anything beyond cleaning & one other thing, let this be it! Change out your towels, bath rug, and sheets! Use a different color that's bright, fresh, and screams spring!
