We Survived the First Week of School & We're Changing Things Up a Bit!

Monday, here you are again! What a fast weekend it was for my family. Last week was a whirlwind with the start of the new school year, and while we usually go non-stop all weekend long, this past weekend was a much needed time of rest for me and my family. The first 'week' of school was really just three days long, but you know how those short weeks can seem like months when you're adjusting to new routines, schedules, and expectations.

Starting today, mornings look a little different...

While my son is starting a new venture in learning, I am also starting a new venture... working outside of the home for the first time in nearly ten years! Let me clarify- I'm still self-employed, but with two kids (one toddler who's still at home during part of the week), and a husband with an untraditional work schedule, working from home just wasn't 'working' for me anymore. I love to work in a quiet, streamlined environment, and the constant interruptions, lax in time management and chaotic mess that is my house was distracting me from my massive to-do lists for Mommy's Block Party.

So... I bit the bullet, and am now working from a co-working space two full days and three half days a week. I pay a small monthly fee to work in a safe, secure, quiet environment with other like-minded people. It's cozy- it feels like an office without a ton of amenities, and I can come and go whenever I please. Huge win for me. Spaces like these are becoming very popular and common in communities all over the world. I love the concept, and though this is only my first day testing the waters- so far, so good. It's 8:30 am and I'm the only one in the office. Gotta love quiet time!

What does this mean for Mommy's Block Party?

Well, it could mean a lot of things, but most importantly, it means that I have dedicated daily office hours. I can schedule meetings here with my MBP team members, rather than have to try to meet in someone's home or a local coffee shop. I can focus on all of the things I want to accomplish in a day, and hope to bring our readers even more of what they love- new brands to check out, bigger, better giveaways, and fun opportunities! The holidays are right around the corner, and I am already prepping!

So, it'll take a bit of adjusting, but I'm excited about this and am determined to make this work. My son cried when I told him that I would be taking him to school in the mornings, rather than his dad- but he changed his tune when he found out that daddy would be home with him after school instead of mommy. I think it'll be a healthy change of pace for everyone.

I'll be sure to keep you posted and let you know how it's going!

If you work, where do you work? Does the work at home life sound appealing to you? I'd love to chat about it in the comments or over on social media!

Have a beautiful day!
