Happy Saturday, friends! I'm sad to say that we are in the midst of the last weekend of our summer vacation. The girls and my nephews start school on Monday morning, and I'm feeling pretty (emotionally) unprepared.
Wrapping Things Up
I have this sense of urgency to make these last few moments of summer last as long as possible. Yesterday, we picked up my oldest nephew, E, and went out to lunch. After we brought him home, we hung out for a bit. I watched as he helped the girls figure out how to play Mario Kart and listened as he called them kiddo and my heart nearly exploded.
E is my Godson, and obviously, I know he's a teenager but it's just hitting me how grown he is. He is getting ready to enter his senior year and is nearly the same age as Matt and me when we first started dating! I remember so clearly crying the entire way home, the night before he started kindergarten. How in the heck has so much time passed by?
Speaking of time passing quickly, this picture was taken when D was just starting 2nd grade and R was only 2 years old. Now, D will be going to 6th grade and R will be heading to 1st.
Sometimes, I can distract myself enough to quiet it down, but the actuality of just how fleeting these precious moments are is an ever present thought in my mind. With the end of another summer, the sense of urgency to slow time down, somehow, becomes much stronger.
Today, in addition to running errands and soccer practice, I'll be making sure to capture moments to store in my mind and heart.
Have a great weekend!
