My kids have a natural love of music. Most all of our family members are musicians of some sort, and the kiddos love all kinds of instruments, enjoy singing, and of course, love to get their hands on instruments to play themselves. In our house, we have guitars, brass instruments, and more. My son (B) has been interested in guitar for a few years and has begged us to get him a guitar. Our schedules don't allow a ton of time to add extra things like music lessons or sports at the moment, but music is such an important part of our lives, we want to encourage our kids to learn to play the instruments they're interested in.

I was recently introduced to ChordBuddy, an amazing (and genius) system that gradually teaches kids (and adults) how to play guitar over time. We were blessed to receive our own ChordBuddy Jr., and introduce guitar to our son on a child-friendly level.

The ChordBuddy Jr. is a fantastic gift idea! It's designed specifically for kids, ages 4-8. My son will turn 8 next month, so this is just the right guitar for him to learn on. The guitar is a beautiful Perry acoustic guitar... and it's a real miniature guitar- NOT a toy! It comes with the ChordBuddy device, as well as a Jr. Songbook, DVD, guitar picks, and a tuner.

The size of the guitar is fantastic. B has tried to hold my Fender guitar many times, and it's just way too big for him. Heck, it feels like it's even too big for me! The miniature Perry is amazing. It sounds so beautiful and clean, and is easy for B to hold, though he has asked for a guitar strap for his birthday.

The look on B's face when he opened up the ChordBuddy Jr. was priceless. He really looks up to musicians like his daddy and his Poppa Rob. He also thinks several of our friends who play guitar are so cool, and he wants to be like them. ChordBuddy Jr. is helping B be able to play the guitar right off the bat, without struggling to hold several strings down to make the right chords. I can attest to how difficult that can be because it's something that I struggle to be able to do well. Plus- those guitar strings are sharp and can really hurt delicate fingers.

The ChordBuddy device attaches to the neck of the guitar. The color-coded tabs do the work for you when you're first learning how to play simple songs. The tabs hold the strings down so you can play a full chord with ease with the push of a button. The Songbook that comes along with the ChordBuddy Jr. has lots of familiar tunes that kids can easily recognize. They can follow along in the songbook and press the colored tab that makes the chords noted in the songs. It really is the easiest way to play guitar!

The ChordBuddy really helps your kiddos actually learn the chords, bit by bit. Now, B has done a lot of playing on his own, but we've also taken the time to go through the chords with him so he can recognize what a G chord sounds like, etc. We can even hunt online for chord charts to some of his favorite songs, and with a little help, he can play some of those songs, thanks to ChordBuddy!

The tuner that comes along with the ChordBuddy Jr. System is so helpful! Even when my husband isn't home, I'm able to help B tune his guitar with ease! We've been so impressed with the ChordBuddy Jr. B was able to pick it up and start playing songs (thanks to the ChordBuddy device) the same day we gave the guitar to him. Every time someone comes over to visit, he brings out the guitar and plays for them, most recently, he played for his Papa Richard when he visited last weekend.

B has a strong desire to one day be a worship leader, so we're practicing the simple songs from the ChordBuddy songbook, as well as simple worship songs. ChordBuddy has lots of fantastic products, including a worship songbook!
