Thank you to Riverside Log Cabins for providing me with lodging which enabled me to review their business. All thoughts and opinions shared below are my own.
As soon as you reach a certain level of elevation, you look at the temperature gauge in your vehicle and see the number has dropped 10 degrees. It's no longer 80 degrees and muggy. You've reached the beautiful, mountains of North Carolina and it is now a cool 70 with no humidity and a gentle breeze. The windows come down as quickly as the shades come off because you do not want to miss one glimpse of the mountain's panoramic view. Entering Blowing Rock, NC is an experience all it's own and one that imprints upon you in such a way, nothing else will ever compare. If your planner is out and you're about to book your trip, stick around to find out all about my recent getaway at Riverside Log Cabins!
If you've never had the opportunity to visit Blowing Rock or Boone, NC, I want to encourage you to start planning a family vacation now. October and November are absolutely beautiful times to visit the mountains of North Carolina! I'm so excited to share with you all about our experience at Riverside Log Cabins.
My husband and I have been bringing our two sons to the high country for a few years now. We live about an hour and a half away so it's the perfect weekend retreat. A couple weeks ago, we loaded up the SUV and set off for another memorable, long weekend in Blowing Rock!
Some of us are not the lightest packers! My sweet boy could not wait to venture inside our log cabin and see where he would be staying for 3 nights.
Riverside Log Cabins is a quaint, mountain retreat with single family log cabins that are beautifully situated along the Middle Fork of the New River. Truthfully, I had NO idea what to expect when we arrived at the cabin. I purposefully did not scour the internet for information and photos because I wanted my impression to be as raw and authentic as possible.
When you pull into the Riverside parking lot, you are actually arriving at Mystery Hill and Doc's Rocks Gem Mining as well! The cabins are situated so closely to these fun excursions, the family can walk to them with ease. These cabins are also located on a paved trail that runs alongside the Middle Fork of the New River. The trail leads walkers to Tweetsie Railroad and High Gravity as well. Be sure to follow Mommy's Block Party on Facebook so that you can read my upcoming post detailing some amazing family excursions in the mountains!
Isn't the cabin adorable? It's everything you would expect a rustic cabin to be, but so much more. Like I said, I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Our cabin was delicately appointed with décor and essentials that were well thought out and nicely arranged.
The above picture shows the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals for your family. There is a flat screen television that comes with cable. You may not need to watch television when you are trying to "disconnect" and enjoy family time. However, my kiddos enjoyed being able to catch a cartoon or two in the evenings when the day was winding down.
This is the living room which also doubles as a sleeping area as the sofa pulls out into a queen bed. For kids, the sofa-bed seemed to work out just fine. Adults may want to bring a mattress topper for some added cushion as it is what you would expect from a sofa-bed. The bedroom below also has a queen bed and flat screen TV as well!
The décor in our cabin was rustic and revolved around bears and woodland animals. My kids loved it! There are humorous signs throughout the cabin that make for a fun environment.
I was pleasantly surprised by the bathroom. Though small, it had everything one would need! The shower had nice water pressure and we never ran out of hot water. The staff bring fresh new towels each day which was a very nice touch.
The bathroom does have bars of soap, but I would suggest bringing your personal toiletries from home. If you forget, there are various drug stores within a few miles where you can find anything you need. After we got settled in, I went to Walgreens to buy a pack of bottled water and some other cold food and drink items that I did not want to bother traveling with.
The Riverside Cabins are private and picturesque. There are grills, a fire pit with plenty of seating, a basketball area and small put-put greens that were perfect for the kids.
My boys made unforgettable memories playing by the riverside with their daddy!
Quite a few times during our weekend, my husband took our boys for a walk along the riverside path. They made discoveries, spotted wildlife and enjoyed climbing on the big rocks by the water. It's a child's wonderland. Looking back over the pictures I took, I already feel nostalgic. Is it wrong that we just got home last week and I'm already wondering when we can go back?!
Lindsey Lou's Final Thoughts: Riverside Log Cabins is everything that I hoped it would be and more. It was rustic, quaint, picturesque and unique. The cabin came appointed with everything you will need to ensure a comfortable and memorable mountain retreat with your family. Our cabin comfortably slept the four of us. Will we return to Riverside? Absolutely. Should you check out Riverside for the perfect mountain getaway? Yes, you should.
You can contact Riverside to book your cabin by visiting their website or via their Facebook page as well. The owner's and staff were unbelievably kind and made sure we felt welcomed and taken care of during our stay. I would like to thank them for this wonderful opportunity! I hope to see you again.
BLESSINGS,
I live in NC and traveled to the mountains once years ago, but haven't been back because our accommodations were filled with ants, roaches, ladybugs, assorted insects. I can't take that. I've been wanting to visit the mountains but I'm afraid of the creepy crawlies. Did you experience that in these cabins?
ReplyDeleteOh man! These pictures are just gorgeous. I wish I could go right now! What a beautiful and quiet getaway. The boys are so precious. Looks like many special family memories were made :) Love you guys! -Lauren
