Thanks to Vacwel for providing me with product to review. All thoughts shared are my own.
Happy Spring! I'm not sure about where you live, but here in North Carolina, we have had the amazing privilege to be welcomed by Spring with the most amazing temperatures. After a cold and wet winter, I for one, could not be happier to see 70 degrees. With Spring, comes the itch to get my house and garden in order and this year, Vacwel is helping me do so with ease!
Spring cleaning and I have a love/hate relationship, if I'm being honest. I absolutely love the outcome and sometimes can even get into a groove and enjoy the process, but usually, I'm not excited to get started. I've shared before with all of you, some projects we have taken on to make our "new" house a home. While I still feel like there are projects left incomplete, I become more and more comfortable here with each passing season. With that being said, one of the projects that help me to feel really good in our plantation home is getting the clutter organized and the closets cleaned.
Closets? There are plenty in this house. We actually have EMPTY closets because there are so many. Even though we have the space to be organized, we aren't really the best at this task. I know some of you are probably reading this and possibly wanting to throw something at the screen, hoping it will somehow penetrate and reach me. I get it. Closet space is sacred and so valuable, especially when you have kids. The longer we live here, the faster they are filling up and recently I realized there was one particular closet that was collecting comforters and blankets.
There is more that is not pictured, but you get the idea. Quilts, comforters and blankets have been piling up in this closet for a couple years now and I have always wanted to tackle this issue with vacuum sealed storage bags.
When I think of vacuum sealed storage bags, only one company has ever come to mind and I'm so excited to show you the incredible (and fun!) Spring cleaning job my kids and I were able to accomplish with the Vacwel system! Also, be sure to check out the amazing (seriously, amazing) giveaway Vacwel is going to provide to TWO awesome readers!
As I showed you, this particular closet needed a lot of help and as you'll see a little later on, there was a bit of a stuffed animal situation that needed tending to as well.
These are the large vacuum seal bags in the 12 count box. There are 8 jumbo and 4 large bags in this box. This box retails for $26.95. You can get 15% your Vacwel purchase by shopping via this Amazon link. All you have to do is click the link and the discount will be applied! Vacwel was kind enough to send me this box as well a bag of jumbo bags and an additional box of 14 variety bags.
We used the large sized bags for quilts and we used jumbo bags for thick, heavy comforters with plenty of room to add more items to the bags! The bags come with a valve attached. It's so simple, even my 6 year old got in on the fun. In fact, both of my boys had such a blast sucking all of the air out of the bags and helping mom and dad with this project. Anytime my kids can help me with cleaning projects is a win in my book!
It is so surprising just how thin and compact these vacuum sealed bags can become even after being stuffed with big, thick blankets! Honestly, I have no idea how we have made it this far without using Vacwel bags. Thinking of the amount of space that is saved and how organized I feel now, I'm such a huge fan. If you happen to have a smaller home with limited storage, Vacwel bags can truly make such a difference.
Another aspect I love about Vacwel is the attention to detail and amazing customer service. Everyone is so kind. It's a family-run business and they operate on old-school values which you do not come across too often anymore. The products are made with premium quality and they use ethical sales practices within their company as well. The more I learn, the more I love.

Just a reminder of the "before" state of this closet.
This is the "after". Can you believe the transformation?! I'm absolutely thrilled with the final result. Everything in the previous picture (save one small orange pillow) is in a Vacwel storage bag in the second picture. Because Vacwel sent me so many bags, I chose to separate many of my blankets into different bags because of the way my brain wanted to organize them. I definitely could have consolidated many of these blankets into one bag! Check out a picture of this:

Try stuffing this pile into one storage bin. I tried it. It's not happening. It would take TWO large, plastic storage containers to hold all of these stuffed animals. Even then, the lids are bulging and would probably break at some point.
Moms, you know how it is. Sometimes you just need to save special stuffed animals!
The entire pile of stuffed animals is inside three Vacwel bags. There is plenty of space in the third bag for more items as well. If I want to add more, I simply open up the ziplock style seal on the end and fill it up to my heart's content. Then, just apply the vacuum cleaner to the valve and seal again. Vacwel provides a hand-held pump if you do not have a vacuum cleaner for some reason, but I predict most people do have a vacuum that has a hand-held option.
Another aspect to these bags that I love are the fact that my items are so very protected. These bags protect against mites, ticks, mold, bacteria and insects of all kinds. Once they are sealed, you can rest assured your items are protected. Protection and organization are the most important features for me and I'm so excited to share this amazing company with all of you!
