Happy Saturday, friends! This past week was pretty much a blur, as is the norm for us around this time of the year. There were two events this week, though, that really helped make the week pretty awesome. One of the events happened Monday and the other, just yesterday.
On Monday, some of the kids at work made me cry! At the beginning of the last lunch period, 2 sweet girls gave me handmade thank you cards. I was feeling pretty good about myself and the relationships I have been building with these kiddos during the school year, and then something CRAZY happened.
At the end of that same lunch period, as they were getting ready to leave with their teacher, an ENTIRE fourth-grade class walked over and gave me handmade thank you cards! You guys, I'm a big darn softy and it took everything in my power to hold back the tears as all of these amazing kiddos came over. Those tears would not be stopped a little later on when I read the notes at home. They are something I will treasure for the rest of my life!
Yesterday was a pretty great day too. It was Field Day for R. Aside from field trip days, field day is my favorite thing to volunteer for. Even though I was working this year, I was able to volunteer before and after my shift. I didn't get to see R too much, but she was thrilled to have had the "ok" (from the orthopedist) to participate.
Now that the weekend is here, we are looking forward to today's adventures. It's Connecticut Open House Day and we're taking advantage of a few freebies and discounts. First, we are heading to The New England Air Museum (50% off admission from 10am-5pm). We have never been there before and it seems like something the whole family would enjoy. Matt's parents are meeting us there and something tells me that it's going to be a pretty fantastic visit.
Our second stop is going to be Fascia's Chocolates. We've been a few times over the last few years and we just love the experience. It's kind of nice to get a "behind the scenes" look and the girls love making their own chocolate bars. Plus, they serve gelato that is basically what dreams are made of.
We're only planning on making the two open house stops because today is also the second day of
The Greek Experience Festival, and we'll be heading down to Danbury to partake in some Greek delicacies. I can already tell I'm going to have to give myself some "tough love" when it comes to the baklava. Moderation goes right out the window when there's baklava! Ugh, just pray for me, you guys!
Let's chat weekend plans! What activities are you taking part in this weekend? Drop me a comment below or catch me on social media @mommysblockparty on Facebook & @beautyrepv on Twitter and IG.
Have a splendid Saturday!
