White Leaf Biodynamic Baby Food and Applesauce

Biodynamic Baby Food and Apple Sauce that is as good for the Environment as it is for your Baby and Yourself!

When I was pregnant with Little Bear I told myself that I would make all his food once he started eating people food… er, I mean solids (we were puppy parents long before we were baby parents); I even got refillable pouches!  So, when he reached the age that the pediatrician told us we could start solids, I started making my own.  I did this for a few weeks and Little Bear ate carrots and sweet potatoes and applesauce to his heart’s content. But, I realized a had a problem when I first tried to make pureed green beans; no matter what I tried (upright blender, food processor, immersion blender) I could not get the green beans smooth enough for him to eat.  I eventually relented and bought pre-made green beans, as well as some other vegetables that I figured I would have the same problem with, telling myself that it would be a one-off. 

After a few days, I wandered back to the baby food aisle and had the (at the time heart-breaking) epiphany that while I could probably make more of less every food, it was impractical to think that I would be able to give him the wide variety and diversity of flavors that were available to purchase.  At that point, I began searching for the best baby food options that balanced great flavors and variety with the use of organic, sustainable produce, and price!

My Little Bear also loves White Leaf Provisions, eating the first pouch I gave him in approximately 3 seconds!  After how much he seemed to like White Leaf, I decided to try it out for myself and I can say that it is delicious; pure flavors that taste exactly like what it says in the package, because that’s all that’s there! I also like that they sell applesauce in traditional cups—rather than pouches—because I can eat it without feeling like I’m “stealing” from Little Bear!

Another thing I love about White Leaf is that it’s available on Amazon with Free Shipping—which are basically my favorite words on the planet—which means one fewer step for this over-worked mom and one fewer thing to remember at the grocery store!  Since variety of foods is one of my priorities, I love that between the four flavors of baby food and two of applesauce, LB gets to consume 10 different foods!  The flavors of baby food are: (1) Mango, Carrot, Banana & Pear; (2) Apple, Sweet Potato & Beet; (3) Pear, Banana & Kiwi; and (4) Carrot, Sweet Potato, & Pea.  And the applesauce comes in Apple Cinnamon and Apple & Pear.
