As a mom, it’s safe to say that your glasses go through a lot. From everyday wear to being pulled off your face by your baby, the kids scrambling to try them on, standing on them, sitting on them, smeared lenses and scratches galore – it’s a wonder they last as long as they do!
So, when the time comes for you to choose your new frame, it's normal to feel a little daunted. You want a pair that is practical and that is going to last, however you don't want to compromise on the style and expressing your own personality. After all, glasses aren't just for helping correct our vision, they're the perfect fashion accessory – see these rectangular glasses - and just because you’re a busy mom it doesn’t mean you can’t have the best of both worlds.
So, with this in mind, I’ve come up with what you should consider when you’re looking for your next pair of glasses.
Blue light protection
Whether you're working between raising a family, helping your kid with their online school project, or you're scrolling through your phone enjoying a moment's peace. Investing in a pair of glasses that have blue light protection is a must for any busy parent. Screens emit blue light which can play havoc with our eyes and even makes it difficult for us to fall asleep at night. Eyewear with blue light protection will help limit the disruption that blue light can cause.
The material
Thankfully, you can still choose your favourite styles of glasses in a wide range of materials. The question you need to ask yourself is what material works best for you? If your glasses are likely to be knocked and pulled off your face by an overly-excited toddler, or be sat on by your partner, then you're going to want to choose a material that is durable and will withstand everything that modern life can throw at them.
Your personality
If you primarily wear glasses and over contact lenses, then you need to consider your personality when choosing your next pair. The colour, the shape and the style all play a huge role in helping you express your personality and your individuality. Ultimately, we want to feel good when we wear our glasses, so look at all the finer details too including your face shape, the positioning of your eyes, the undertone of your skin and the length of your face.
