Happy Saturday, friends! It's the first weekend of September and I still haven't officially "welcomed" the month because I'm waiting for the proof that it warrants a welcome and that it will be better than the last 6 months. Either way, September is here, and this weekend is our last before the start of the school year.
We have a few odds and ends to tend to before the start of the school year, but overall the girls are prepared. I keep imagining how different our first day of school pictures are going to look this year, as both girls are going to start back virtually. I'm as confident in that decision as I can be, but part of me is concerned that I'll be doing them a disservice by keeping them home. I know the district will be providing asynchronous lessons for the students who are learning virtually, but I worry just the same.
Enough about things that aren't entirely in my control though. This weekend we'll be doing what we usually do, visiting with Gram and making memories. We switched things up a little during last weekend's visit and brought art supplies with us. Everyone had such a wonderful time.
This weekend I think we'll bring along some colored pencils, copy paper, and Fashion Plates. I think everyone will have a blast putting looks together and coloring them in. It doesn't make a difference how old you are, allowing yourself a few minutes to "play" is good for your mental health. After the insanity of (most of) this year, I'd say anything that brings an opportunity for smiles and laughter is a good thing!
I hope that you have an excellent weekend. Remember to take some time out of the busy-ness of the day and participate in activities that bring joy to your heart!
