Autumn is just around the corner, and as expected, it’s time to experience a little drop in the temperature. It's also a time for fishing, hiking, watching the amazing scenery, and being dazzled by colorful leaves. If staying at home is more your thing, Autumn is a great time to enjoy warm drinks while you relax. Here are four warm brews that are perfect for Autumn.
Pumpkin Spice latte
It's only fair to kick this list off with autumn's classic warm drink. If you are a regular customer at Starbucks, then you shouldn't have a problem getting yourself a cup. However, if you are looking to save some cash and still have a good cup of pumpkin spice latte, here's how to go about it.
Add ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to two tablespoons of pumpkin and two tablespoons of honey or sugar, all in a saucepan and over medium heat. Keep stirring the mixture until it simmers.
Now, stir in milk and pure vanilla extract,1 ½ cups milk and 2 tablespoons respectively. Carefully transfer the mixture into a blender and blend until it's covered with a mass of bubbles. You can divide the latte on top of two cups with a shot of espresso/coffee each. Top it up with whipped cream before you get comfy on a sofa or bed with Netflix.
Golden Milk Turmeric tea
Turmeric is one of the spices out there with proven health benefits, most famously known for assisting with healthy digestion. Many take turmeric supplements for this reason, but you can also enjoy its natural flavour with this tea recipe.
To one cup of non-dairy milk, add 2-3 inches of cinnamon stick, one unpeeled or one teaspoon of powdered turmeric, ½ inch ginger (unpeeled), one tablespoon of honey, and a quarter teaspoon full of black peppercorn, all in a saucepan. Boil the mixture and simmer for 10 minutes. It’s normal to have some particles, so pour through a fine sieve. It’s ready to serve.
Vanilla Chai latte
This one's for you if you need to reduce your caffeine intake. You can make this one by combining 2 cups of water, 2 peppercorns, 3 whole cloves, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom, ¼ teaspoon ground ginger, and 1 cinnamon stick.
Boil for 5 minutes to release the spices' flavor. Pour in a mug and put in two black tea bags for 3 minutes. Now, stir in two tablespoons of sugar and one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Finally, heat ½ cup of milk and pour into the tea. You can enjoy it with sprinkles of cinnamon.
Hot Toddy
Who said you can have a hot drink with a little mix of alcohol? The hot toddy is a recipe that combines honey, whisky, lemon, cinnamon, and cloves. Simply mix according to your level of alcohol tolerance. Heat water with lemon juice. Drop one clove stick and let it release the flavor. You can then sprinkle cinnamon and you are good to go.
