February is all about love, right? Are you loving your neighbor?
On a drive today I saw a sign in a yard that said, "God Loves You!" Now, I am a believer that this is the truth, however, it made me ponder...if God loves any one person that sees that sign but they are different than the owner of the yard sign - worships God differently than you, has a relationship with Jesus that is different than yours, have different skin color, go by another gender than their body was at birth, are deep in depression, etc. - then why do Christians judge anyone?
It is not our job to be judge and jury, that is the Lord's to decide. The greatest commandments according to Jesus in Mark 12: 28-31 are to love God with all you've got and then to love your neighbor as yourself.
"One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
I challenge you today to think about who your neighbors are. Are our neighbors simply those who are like us and believe as we believe or are our neighbors each person you see, interact with, and hear about on TV?
Who is a neighbor that you could show God's love with today?
Blessings,
