I am such a fan of awareness days. I find them so informative. I've interacted with people that have developmental language delays and they can feel segregated and left out when they appear different than others. Developmental Language Disorder Awareness Day is all about giving those who have a language disorder a voice.
How Can You Help
1. Explain to your own children what to do or how to speak to someone that has this disorder.
2. Thank a speech pathologist and speech therapists that work to help improve speech abilities.
3. Volunteer or donate to organizations that benefit those with speech delays.
Remember we are all created differently, but it doesn't make us less equal. Be inclusive to those that have a speech disorder. A change with how people perceive others starts with all of us.
