Thanks to Lifevine Wines for sending over these samples in exchange for a review. All thoughts are my own. |
Is your family gathering around the table this holiday season? Not only do our holiday meals include high calorie sides, abundant treats, but also sugary drinks. Did you know the average glass of dessert wine has up to 7 grams of sugar? If you consume 2–3 glasses throughout Thanksgiving Day, that's an additional 21 grams of sugar added to your daily diet! An average adult should only be consuming 25 grams per day. And remember, American foods often contain sugar additives, even in breads, canned foods, and of course, our Thanksgiving Pie! So that ends up being a lot of sugar!
What if there was a wine brand that offered great tasting wine but cut out the additional additives? Lifevine strives to do exactly this!
Lifevine Wines, based in Oregon, strives to be and is committed to being a wine brand that is free of toxins & pesticides and is organic as much as possible.
Did you know that brands are not required to disclose all of their ingredients? There are over 70 FDA approved additives that get thrown into our wine, and often they aren't always listed on labels. Lifevine Wines is committed to being transparent and lists all ingredients for its consumers. Labels also include nutrition, noting that per 5 fl oz of wine, there is zero sugar! In fact, they are one of the first brands to list ALL ingredients and nutrition information on the label!
Many Lifevine wines have even won the Clean Label Project Purity Award, meaning that the wine was tested by a third party for toxins and additives, and nothing was found. Lifevine Wines strive to be as sustainable as possible, too.
Three of Lifevine wines were sent over to me for testing. I love wine, but lately I've not been able to consume as much due to health restrictions related to GERD & Acid Reflux. I usually gift wine as host gifts when I'm invited to dinners and parties, and often gift it to people who I know regularly consume wine as well.
The wines I received were:
- The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc (California): Tasting notes include Jasmine Floral, mandarin, key lime, and green melon. Lifevine suggests this pairs well with fish, salads, and is great for porch sipping. It contains 13.1% alcohol content. This wine was made at the Lyon Vineyard in the northern Alexander County.
- The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley): Tasting notes include black currant, blackberry, plum jam, coffee, and cocoa nib.
- The 2022 Rose (California): Tasting notes for this wine include fresh berries, melon, cardamom, and herbs. It contains 12% alcohol content. The grapes come from Terra Alta Vineyard (Clement Hills).
