We all know at least one person who is referred to as a "grouch". On National Do A Grouch A Favor Day, find a way to show you care for them!

Although many other synonyms (some appropriate, some not) can be used for someone who is perpetually grouchy, Oxford defines a grouch as a "habitually grumpy person". Every one of us knows one, while some of us are guilty of being one.

Today, on "Do a Grouch a Favor Day", we can go the extra mile to turn that grouchy person's frown upside down! So, how do we that? I've come up with a list to make even the grouchiest people smile!

1. Find out their favorite treat and either buy it or make it for them.

Whether it be a sweet dessert or something salty, no one can receive a surprise gifting of their favorite treat with a frown on their face!

2. Be an ear!

There's usually a reason for grouches to grumble. Sometimes they just need someone to listen to them and validate them. Be that person for them today. Maybe you can even offer advice for their situation.

3. Offer to help.

Sometimes grouches are grouchy because they have no one to help them. Does their trashcan need to be taken to the road for pickup? Take it to the curb for them. Do they need help moving something? Use those muscles if you've got 'em! Do they need a ride to the grocery store? Offer to be their taxi for the next hour or two. Give help where you can see would be beneficial to them in a non-demeaning way.

4. Just visit with them.

Stop by and say hello to your favorite grouch and let them know you are thinking about them. Just knowing someone cares can go a long way!
