One of the easiest ways to dress up any outfit is to add jewelry. Jewelry is timeless, and often goes through fashion cycles. While some pieces of jewelry tend to err on the side of trendy, others are classic pieces that will carry you through the decades as styles change. I am so happy that simple jewelry is back in style, and that large, chunky pieces are finding their shelf life once more.
Here are some of my favorite jewelry trends for an easy transition from summer to fall.
Rings
I used to think it sort of silly to wear any rings other than my engagement ring and wedding band. Sure, I have other rings that have been given to me through the years (think graduation gifts, heirloom rings passed down from family members), but they aren't rings I would wear every day. Stackable rings have become really popular over the past couple of years, and I am in love with how cute they are. As someone who loves thin jewelry to begin with, these thin rings are perfect for just about anyone. Most women don't want large, clunky jewelry, and any mom will tell you that thin bands are better, especially if you have little ones. I can't tell you the number of times I have accidentally scratched one of my kiddos with the diamond on my engagement ring. Stackable rings are adorable for summer, and are fantastic for fall, too! I love the yellow gold and rose gold rings for this time of year, and then switching to silver in the winter. Wear one by itself or add several for a uniquely styled look!
Necklaces
Minimalist necklaces are all the rage! The simplest little gold or silver chain can add instant elegance to a sundress or blouse. Thicker gold chains are coming back into style, too! Add them to crewneck tee shirts with wide-leg dress pants and cute sandals for an elevated look. Take that same style straight into fall with layered looks! A black base, like a shirt with a fall colored sweater or sweatshirt over top is a cozy and casual look that can be worn with jeans or black faux leather leggings. Add that necklace for that extra style pop! Chelsea boots or even sneakers work perfectly with this on-trend style for fall.
Bracelets
Bracelets had a big moment several years ago with their thin leather layers, all wrapped up as one bracelet. As with stackable rings, stackable bracelets are stylish this summer into fall. Pairing two or three beaded bracelets together in varying colors can pull your outfit together in a jiffy. I own several different types of pearl bracelets that stack beautifully together for a crisp look in the summer. I tend to swap those out with gold and black tones late summer into fall. As fall gets on, I lean toward earth tones like green, orange, red, and yellow. It's one of the easiest ways to turn your outfit from 'just pulled out of the drawer' to 'put this together last night.'
One of the best things about fashion is that it's an incredibly fun way to express your personal style. Fashion is ever-changing, but that doesn't mean you have to change with it. Some looks will never go out of style. Try building a capsule wardrobe for each season, and creating your outfits from staple pieces. Layering pieces like sweaters and jewelry, along with footwear and a great handbag will lead you to fantastic style that's all your own.
