Thanks to Dovety for sending me this spin scrubber in exchange for a review. All thoughts are my own. |
Who remembers using Comet scouring powder to scrub the grime away in their bathtubs? Grabbing the bath mat to protect knees, mitts up to the elbows to protect against the abrasive protect, and back bending to get into the corners of the tub without hitting heads, shoulders, or elbows was something I hated (and still do, even though Comet has left my household list of cleaning products).
There has to be a better way to clean without breaking our back! Enter the spin scrubber! Dovety sent me their 9-in-1 electric cleaning brush to test out. After a summer of neglect, receiving this was the motivation I needed to get into some of the gritty parts of my home.
What are Spin Scrubbers?
Essentially, they are tools that spin an attachment (such as a brush or pad) in circles to get the grime, dirt, and build-up off a surface. Electric Scrubbers take the grime off a surface, but it doesn't disappear. The remaining residue still needs to be wiped or mopped up afterward. Yet, spin scrubbers are a fabulous way to do the deep cleaning work without the muscle. This is great for those of us with health issues, but still need our homes clean!
What is the Dovety Scrubber?
The Dovety Scrubber is a rechargeable electric spin scrubber. It's full charge last about 90 minutes, but it probably takes a four- five hours to refill charge, so be sure to charge it after every use. It is a cleaning brush that has detachable tools and different accessories for many home environments.
What comes with the Dovety Scrubber?

How to use?
Electric Scrubbers require little force, unlike mops and regular scrubbers. This can be hard at first, as you want to put pressure on it, but it really just makes the cleaning more difficult. Learn your attachment pads & brushes plus their uses. To start, pop on the brush or pad needed. The small brush was great for my bathroom sinks and bathtubs. The large brush was great for the floors. I also used the sponge on the sinks too, after I scrubbed. Attachments are easy to remove, but be sure to stop the scrubber first.
After placing the correct accessory, start your scrubber. There are two settings: low and high. For most things, low works just as well as high, and even saves battery life. When I used the high setting, I also noticed a lot more residue flinging as there is no guard.
To clean, hold the scrubber as flat as possible. This is tricky in the tub, but can be done. For smaller spaces like windows, toilet seats, and sinks, use the scrubber without the telescopic rod. This gives you a better grip and balance. As the attachment spins in circles, move it to your desired location to reach all spots, much like you would when scrubbing regularly. The difference here is no force is needed-just guide the machine to the desired location.
The scrubber can be used under running water, but be sure to avoid submerging or getting the charging port wet. Only the attachments are really waterproof! This is great for the tub and sinks to get the residue to disappear, only leaving you to wipe surfaces dry at the end. I also used it on my shower walls too!
After scrubbing to your heart's content, be sure to rinse/ wipe your surfaces. The scrubber doesn't make all residue disappear, it just rather makes it easier to get grime off the sides of your tub or walls. Tools like sponges, cleaning rages, and wet mops are still highly useful after scrubbing.
Then, rinse your attachments and be sure to dry all, including the scrubber (again, don't submerge the base underwater) before storing. No bag came with the items, so I found my own bag, but it would have been nice to have one to hang all the attachments on the hooks!
Things I wish I knew before:
The scrubber can be a fast bugger on high, and it got away from me a couple of times. Be sure to have a grip on the handle.
The spin scrubber only scrubs the spot it's located in, and doesn't spread cleaning solution and water, especially on floors. It's not a mop or one of those industrial scrubbers that moves water back and forth. Yet, it still does a great job at getting grime up, so that the icky can be wet or dry mopped away. The scrubber is like the first step in floor cleaning, but not the last.
Baseboards are tricky, but certainly doable. I would recommend going behind and dusting after using the pads.
The scrubber isn't going to magically make all your cleaning happen any easier. There are all sorts of TikTok videos showing how easy the scrubber is to use and how it cuts your cleaning time in half. While it makes certain things easier, I don't think it cut my time in half. I do think its more of a versatile tool to use that allows cleaning certain rooms or items to be easier and not as backbreaking though.
Would I purchase the scrubber on my own?
At $39.99, I would certainly give it a shot! It would not most likely be a part of my daily cleaning routine, but it certainly would be a part of my larger routines. I can't say that I scrub my floors every day (or week, for that matter), but I think having this tool around for when projects go awry, or when the stormy season is present, is certainly helpful.
The main things I would use this scrubber for weekly are: the bathroom tubs, sinks, and mirrors. It worked so well with the mirrors using the cloth pad! I also loved it for my shower tile, as I'm too short to reach the top. It did get some of the rust stains out of the grout, without me even intentionally focusing on those areas, too. The sponge was also great in the kitchen, especially after cooking.
It's lightweight and easy to hold, so I didn't have my normal hand spasms like I do when I grib mops too hard! It effectively got the residue off the tub sides, the toilet grooves, and even the sink drain areas where stuff builds up at the plug.
This fall and back to school season, save your energy for things other than cleaning. Be sure to grab the Dovety electric spin scrubber to cut down on your back-breaking cleaning labor, and give yourself a rest!
