Week Two, Here We Come!

We made it! We made it through the first week of school with few hiccups, and now here we are... Monday again. Our school has an early release day once a week, every week during the school year. For our first two years at this school, the early release day was Monday. I dreaded Mondays because of it. Not only is Monday my heaviest day for daytime and evening meetings (both for Mommy's Block Party, and for my job at church), it's been lesson day for piano up until this school year.

Talk about busy- we had to figure out eating lunch in the car to be in line early enough to pick up at 1 pm, drop home by 1:30 pm so my mom could watch the kids while I head to church campus for meetings and planning, and had to bring B along with me. Why, you ask? B came to church with me and sat with me until his dad could swing by (on his lunch hour) to pick B up and take him to his piano lesson. He would then either take B back to work with him, or drop him back off to me at the church- it just depended on whoever was going to be done with meetings and head back home first.

Every third Monday of the month, we have team meeting at church for our contemporary worship service, so I would dash home, make dinner for the kids, fly back out the door, and head back to church to my meeting. It's about twenty minutes of travel time from home to church during heavy traffic times.

This year, (thank the Lord) early release days have been moved to Fridays! We also let piano go this fall. That wasn't something I wanted to do, but B started band this fall, and his after school commitments between band and theatre are going to interfere with piano lessons. We wound up having to have a lot of make-up lessons last year on Saturday mornings.

Now, Mondays are seamless. Sacha takes the kids to school and heads to work. I stay home with Baby C and work on Mommy's Block Party from about 5 am until 1:30 pm. My mom is being absolutely wonderful, and is picking the kids up from school on Mondays, and then staying with them until I get home from church meetings. Nowhere to rush the kids off to- though Bean is looking for an afterschool activity.

Monday night dinners are usually a crock pot meal. There's no time to cook meals in between meetings, and we try to avoid picking up takeout. It'll be crock pot cheesy potatoes with turkey kielbasa tonight. I roadted potatoes for the kids to have alongside of chicken and broccoli. Nice and easy!

Mondays are only one day of our week, of course. The rest of the days are also quite busy with work, the school car rider line, kids, house, rehearsals, church, and then the weekend is loaded with birthday parties, seeing friends, and more church- and more church after that. It's our life. It's a lot, but it's truly the only life we know. It's a blessed life.

What's your week looking like?
